Ernie, if you have a close look at the pic Martin posted of MN 207, you can see the strengthening strakes by the mid upper turret, those are what I was trying to show with our 159 bird in Nanton............ -

Yes, they were cleaned out to the basic frame work, mostly due to weight saving, but they didn't carry much in the way of rescue equipment other than the rescue rafts with survival gear for the most part, and as Martin points out there were a few different styles of turret mods, mostly due to which ever operation the aircraft was assigned to, Rescue ASW etc.... so yes, and very observant.... -

Ernie................ this pic?? all it says is 405 Sqdn NAS Jax, Feb 1953 so I'd say it is Naval Air Station Jacksonville Florida?? and that could be , as we did a LOT of exchange ops with the USN..................makes sense to me.... -

Yes, David,, ALL war time guns and other sundries were removed after hostilities, so no guns on any rescue Lanc..... it was a weight saving thing, and we didn't need them any more.... -
can't argue that point.........................

the first pic shows a good example of the "Dust Bin" radar .............. the second pic is FM159 in Nanton a former Rescue bird from the '50's, notice the strengthening strip where the turret goes, common to all RCAF rescue birds....the rest are mostly just for any kind of reference you can use them for...... still hunting the details for you Ern, haven't forgotten....but much like I have mentioned there isn't much in the way of huge mods for the rescue birds....... -
AND, you had the ultimate Pleasure of PAYING TOP DOLLAR for that AWESOME service......................... don't cha just LOVE Canada Post???????????? Oh how I could go on and on, this is totally unacceptable, and this performance is absolutely DISGUSTING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think when those damn guys want a raise we should shut them down, absolutely NOT worth the money we PAY, and we pay HUGE !!!!!!!!!!! Martin, take that to the senior supervisor, don't let this rest, if no luck there go higher, that's what those guys get paid handsomely for....... don't let it rest !!

Yeah, Phil you're right, I am excited, we have such silly import rules, and some of the items that "Carzilla' has in stock are a lot of the products that are difficult to import into this country from the USA, and their prices seem to be reasonable, considering money exchange, the mega shipping costs ( we are on the same rock, but sometime I think I'm paying to have stuff shipped to the dark side of the moon !!) import duties and fees, as well as 'brokerage' fees, which to me is just another money grab..... I can fill out papers, I don't need to pay someone to do it for me................... sorry, I digress.................. I have had EXCELLENT results with Meguaires products, we show our Corvettes, and I have come away with top scores for them at times......and the Autoglym stuff is available here and is good stuff as well.... I have some of their bird poop wipes, and they work like a charm as does the bug guts removal stuff, a local detail guy is from the UK, and he swears by ( not 'at') Autoglym.... so yeah, in a nutshell, I am very excited, you read me will Phil... some days I do feel like we are living on some sort of other planet when it comes to accessing top quality items.....

Thanks Scott, yeah, I sure do know about the iron deposits, living in BC our snow plow trucks have steel and carbide cutting edges, and they wear out lots, and as a usual thing I have to clay my truck every spring to get it cleaned up so I'm no stranger to that for sure, and yeah she is on the rails right now as we speak, so that's another consideration and , I , like you have probably enough top line car detailing stuff to start a small store.... I definitely hear you there..... this is all good though, the more information shared here the more informed a guy can be to make a good solid decision..... I do know that ceramic coating is not he be all end all and it isn't the magic elixir, but if I can get some stronger protection from scratches and swirls, I'd be happy.....wither will kick this paint even under the most careful of snow removal etc..... my goal is to keep this ride looking as good as I can for as long as I can...
