  1. Er ... + ???? Do enlighten us James?? Rog
  2. Ahhh ... do you get an invoice with shipping quote included before payment if you use CC as a medium?? Rog
  3. Very good question Mr.S!! ... Yes - I saw that and proceeded ... the order details I saw were 2 x Mustang IV's ... nothing else unfortunately ... I really did go as far as I could without my Paypal account being debited ... It's a pain ... I've sent 3 emails ... finally got a response on the 3rd one ... where they say that they have lodged an enquiry ... with Paypal?!?!?!? every other online store I visit either gives you a shipping quote on your invoice prior to payment OR informs you that they will do it manually after confirming your order - but PRIOR to payment (in other words, they supply you with an invoice after shipping calculations!) In reality the site should go no where near Paypal ... until you confirm that what is in your basket is everything ... and until you confirm your postal address - and shipping costs are given ... Dunno how theirs works actually ... but I'm leery of 'confirming' anything unless I know if I can cancel the order - should the shipping charge prove to be extortionate ... Thanks for the effort though, S!!!! Cheers Rog
  4. Hi All Want to buy a bucketload of gear over the next year or two from ZM ... Tried to buy a couple of new Mustang IV's ... the items go to cart ... and then when you go to check out ... no shipping charges are added?? ... from there it asks you to go to Paypal and authorise payment while confirming your order ... Why on earth would I authorise or confirm ANY transaction without knowing the full cost!!???? So ... Am I doing it wrong?? The "Help" email has be sent 3 times with only one reply ... saying that an enquiry has been lodged with Paypal for the 'error' ... God only knows what THATS all about?? Rog
  5. ha ha ha!!! ... or my own shop front!! - the back room has a whole wall of kits - floor to ceiling Rog
  6. lol thanks very much fellas ... though to be fair, this was all done over the period of a month or two ... unlike some of the purchases last year (15 kits inside a couple of weeks - done several times!) ... There are still a few kits I am chasing ... not the least of which is the ZM Fw190 series when they make their auspicious appearance!! And I am desperately hoping Classic Publications re-release the Ju-88 Vol.1 book!!! ... Rog
  7. An update on collecting some new items on my return from holiday in Manila ... 1st up a great new read ... Next ... a couple of references familiar to most of you ... and I agree with many reviews - very nice!! I had purchased this, the second of my ZM Ta152's in original boxing, before I left for Manila ... I had it delivered to a friend in case it arrived while I was away ... And lastly ... these arrived at the post office for collection today ... supplied by my usual UK contact ... Rog
  8. 2 on order as of 3 days ago ... fixes are easy-peasy, really ... Rog
  9. Hi all ... I'm not sure if I've posted this thread in the correct place ... so, Mods', please forgive the transgression and shift it if required! I've pretty much copy/pasted this from my thread on there. A few of you might have seen this recent thread posted by 'Vitali' on LSP (Large Scale Planes) 18th June ... but to fill in the background info for this thread (and save me from doubling up!), have a decko ... and at the link he provided in his opening post. http://forum.largesc...showtopic=51112 With a couple of emails exchanged between Mike (the Merit website manager) and I, due to the confusion surrounding the listing on scale size (i.e.: 1/32 & 1/48), he seemed genuinely intrigued about the interest level the ad had sparked for 1/32 scale ... his final reply is below: "Hi Roger, Sorry to dissapoint! However we are always looking for the next big thing (pun intended) and our owners are very receptive to the forum communities. So, it may be possible to consider producing a twin engine Soviet aircraft kit in that scale if enough people would be interested. We will keep the community informed! Thanks Again Mike Johnston Webmaster Merit International" Ok folks ... so, the question is one of interest level!! ... Please be aware that I will provide Mike with a link to this thread so he can pop in and look at your suggestions ... probably a good idea to follow the forum rules in spirit on this one ... I think we would like to create a good impression (also not annoying the Mods is good!)... any ideas/thoughts are welcome as long as they are Soviet, WWII and predominantly (though not exclusively!) twins Rog
  10. Not a huge fan of hairdriers by a long shot ... but the Phantom/carrier deck dio is awesome!!
  11. I have 3 hobbies ... * Military history, especially relating to strategy and tactics ... and narrowing it down further, the development of armour (and therefore my interest in the Panzerwaffe and WWII in general by extension) ... This is where my interest in modeling comes from ... I can create 3D art - depicting that which interests me. * Books ... Military history, of course ... but also novels - you could divide my yearly reading time equally between both ... * Writing ... I am currently at work on a novel of my own ... but at university, I was just as much at home writing essays for assignments on subjects like accounting and economics. I am always buying books ... so whenever I am short of something new to read I give the girls of Dymocks in Ellenbrook a call ... I also wander around their shelves whenever I venture up that way ... I grabbed some Military titles while up there recently While Neither James Holland or David Isby are familiar authors to me ... the topics piqued my interest. Paul Ham is well known to me ... "Kokoda" and "Hiroshima and Nagasaki" being a couple of his works I have on shelf. Rog
  12. And today another collectable arrives Rog
  13. Darn that looks decent ... dispenser style rows too!! ... It looks like it'd be just the thing for my Tamiya bottles :/ ... wish you could buy these new!! Rog
  14. I knew the dorsal turret was removed ... something to do with the spinning machinery and bomb taking up the space ... but I was fairly sure that the front turret was kept?? Yep I agree too ... A fellow on another forum said that the HK team took a detour to inspect one at an RAF museum while out at Telford last year - presumably to verify measurements and ensure that corrections were made to the kit design before release. Rog
  15. My goodness I do hope it is later this year!!! ... it looked like the second coming was going to eventuate before this did! ... It seems ... after looking on at their Meteor release, that they have settled into a rhythm of producing a "basic" kit that can be assembled OOB or "detailed up" or altered with the personally chosen level of AM that inevitably follows ... I think this is a good move. As to variants? ... I'll have one each way ... there could be just the one kit (allowing the AM guys to create the resin mods for 617 various types - like Paul Fisher is doing with the meteor and people like Derek and Iain et.al get involved with) or they might do 2 or 3 subsequent releases ... as they have done with the B-25 and are planning to do with the B-17F (or early G???) which is supposed to be released in the not to distant future. That one is taking it's time though!! If they go with a combination of "basic" and "variant" re-releases ... I think that would be the best option and more likely to get involved AM attention ... I doubt the AM guys would want to go manufacturing a full Tallboy or Grand Slam or Dambuster conversion setup - and even if they did, the AM kit would be time consuming to create and get to market - as well as expensive to buy. If HK do the "basics" for these, AM guys can get to do the finer detailing and get it to market in a shorter space of time ... Just my thoughts ... either way, I'm in for at least one ... and if the ability to make variants without scratchbuilding comes along maybe another two or three ... now ... if we can con them into producing a Wellington?!? Rog
  16. ... yes ... but it's still micro scale ... if you could get a kit of the virus in say 500/1 scale resin with appropriate detailing, PE etc ... it might make an interesting display - inside a doctors surgery?!? Rog
  17. ... and now with some AM ... apparently!
  18. Well I don't know about you lot ... but it's a bit Erla for me ... Ok ... so the humour is about as funny as flatulence in a well populated, small, enclosed area! ... But my UK supplier sent me my second Erla - along with the replacement for the damaged one sent a couple of weeks back too!! Royal Mail was pretty quick this time 'round - taking just 8 days to get from Stoke to Perth!! Rog
  19. Just Googled it ... nice looking kit for the price ... I have a Tamiya one for the moment, but will probably look at Dragon soonish (for a Stug IV as well) ... I alway remember the lines from Girls und Panzer and it makes me smile ... "Great shot! ... now target the Lang at 1 o'clock" "uh ... which one is the Lang?!?! ..." "The one that looks like Hetzers big brother!" Rog
  20. Excellent! ... the Hetzer is an awesome machine ... one of my fav chassis adaptions! um ... 301 + 103 = 404 lol Rog
  21. Well there you go ... a wealth of information, you are Steve!! I had no idea it was the older tooled version ... After reading this I went and opened the box for ST-19 alongside this kit to do a quick comparission ... and waddya know?? Yep! Quite a bit of difference there in sprues!!! ... I suppose I could get all bent out of shape for being dense enough to buy without doing my research - but since I've never seen the kit before (through quite a bit of looking around) and I had figured on grabbing it as a "collectors item" ... I guess it probably still is!! After all ... I'm chasing the odd Matchbox 1/32 kit in good condition for that same reason! Thanks for chipping in! Rog
  22. Well ... another couple of kits arrived in the mail today ... Obviously local to the Greater Perth area (deduced by his ad in e-bay) this supplier had one of those rarer Hasegawa boxings of an FW190D-9 ... and I grabbed another Bf109G-14 off him for good measure! ... I had never seen this edition of the FW190 before ... It's a "Special Edition" and contains some "Detail Parts" although I don't know how these will stand up to scrutiny by the aficionados ... Among other things ... rubber tires, PE, what looks like copper tubing and various other metal detail items ... The PE set ... Some metal landing gear and hubs for the rubber tires (dunno how much more detailed this lot is, and it looks kind of gimmicky Rear landing gear ... with moulded wheel/tire!!!!!????? Metal propeller blades ... again ????? Exhaust stacks ... not fully hollowed out either ... so the question begs - why bother? On the surface - impressive ... but maybe they were trying to copy what some of the more recent manufacturers market releases have been doing (all-in-one kits)... only maybe not as well??? Rog
  23. I dare say that is the intention that Kevin had when he bought it ;) Rog
  24. Ahhh yes ... they should provide complimentary paper towels ... There's no shame in it, I tell you!! I'm sure many more of us have done the same ... Yep - African it is ... there's just something about the way the Luftwaffe do camo. eh? ,,, and I have my A-1 for the "traditional" splinter. Rog
