Thanks Peter. Decaling has been completed so now I'll do the rest of the build (canopy, gear, etc). Just might have it finished later today!
-
I'm glad I could save the build but it was mighty "iffy" at one point 😄. Thanks!!!

Thank you Gaz. I'm glad I could fix it and get on with the build.
-
Thanks Rob. Getting there!

Thanks Peter. That paint peeling "adventure" nearly got it put on the SOD! It looks like it's over the hump now so I plan to start decaling today.

I think I'll start with the decals next then add the gear, etc. Should go well (I hope).

Not now Ron. There was a time though. 😀

LOL Carl! I think that will be the very last thing I attach. If I had put it in place it would have been broken off half a dozen times at least!
-
Thank you Carl. I just wonder how it will look after decaling. Hopefully good! (This dam model is too friggin BIG! I keep hitting the lamps on my work table. Lucky that I haven't broken something. Fingers crossed.)

About done with the masking and painting. I might decide to do a little more but I really don't want to tempt fate!!! LOL
-
LOL Rob! I look forward to seeing your completed model. I wish Tamiya DID pay me, etc! I'd be rich! LOL
-
Looking good Rob. Now you can see why I've built so many of them! Wish they would do a -4.

Me too Stuart. I think it will come along okay now (fingers still crossed). And welcome to LSM!

Thank you Carl. I think it will go okay!

Thanks Peter! So far so good!

Overall Alclad aluminum applied. Next up is painting some panels various shades. Fingers crossed for no pull off!
-
That would be the best way for sure but I think painting the whole a/c then adding the panel decals minimizes the chance for paint peel although I'll still have to paint the different color metal panels and hope for no peel off. 🙃
-
Something I'm going to do is spray paint some clear decal paper with colors other than metal shades. There are some panels on the a/c that are a light tan color and panels on either side of the vertical tail that are a very light gray. My plan is to go on and paint all the metal colors such as aluminum, etc and then measure out and apply the painted decals in their appropriate places. Should minimize chances for "problems". We will see!

Now that would be great!!! I'm not holding my breath though LOL. 😄

Since I don't have a P-51 in the stash I feel I need to correct that situation! I just ordered a Revell late -D from SB.

I decided to use Testor's gloss white as a base coat/primer. I THINK it will work okay but we'll see when I shoot some Alclad aluminum on and mask over that. I too use Tamiya masking tape as my main go to for masking. Fingers crossed! 🙄
