  1. This is something I think about frequently. I really don't have a good idea about "disposing" it all after I croak. The Eighth Air Force museum at Barksdale just across the river from me might take a few built-ups but for the rest of the stuff (I have 5 display cases full of built models and 7 or 8 cardboard boxes with built-ups in them carefully packed away) I just don't know yet. I've got something like 250-300 unbuilt kits and many, many books, decals, after market, etc. Since I'm no longer married and my sons don't really have a interest in all that I guess I'll come up with something. LOL🤪
  2. Thank you Chris. I'm happy you like it. Yes, I used the kit flaps on both builds. Took some test fitting and trimming though!
  3. Finished with this one. https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/18528-p-51d-bardahl-special-2022-finished/
  4. Seldom do I build a model of a a/c depicted at two different times in history. I decided Bardahl Special was special enough to warrant it. Draw Decals has issued two sets for the same a/c so I decided to go for it. The first one shown here is the 2022 version of the same a/c with some differences since the a/c had a couple of accidents since 1964 and was rebuilt a couple of times. The 2022 a/c is a pylon racer while the 1964 version was a cross country racer. Same a/c, different type races and different times. Since another racer has since acquired the #8 they decided to use a similar looking #3. Both models are Revell Germany with mods. Painted with Testor's Gloss White with gray interiors. For some reason I really like shiny white racers! LOL I hope you guys like the results of my efforts. As always, please click on the 1st photo for best resolution and to view as a slide show. 🤪
  5. The model is completed except for the decals. Its been sitting waiting for nearly a week! 🤪
  6. Update on the decals. Tracking says Tuesday 25th. Jeeze Louise, get the lead out!
  7. Agreed Peter. This hobby is supposed to be enjoyable (and therapeutic at times). Earlier this week I pulled my Fisher Twogar off the SOD to see about resuming working on it. I had put it aside a while back because of drooping wings. Thought I'd give it another shot but, try as I might, still couldn't get it straightened out. Hot water and hair dryer just did not help much. So it was back to the SOD. I'll find something else to do. Likely another P-51 racer I have in mind. John
  8. True but it sure had some good flying sequences. Those were the only redeeming factors.
  9. I really hate to hear this Peter as the Whirlwind was really looking good. However, I completely understand as I too have "been there done that". I expect it happens to anyone who builds models for any length of time. Thankfully not a frequent occurrence. Step back for a bit and chill. When you think you might be ready to resume building, pick a easy peasy kit to get your mojo back. Hopefully that will be soon. John
  10. Thanks Gaz. It's nearly done. I'm just waiting for the decals to show up. I like the white finish too and I think the screws came out okay. I was afraid they'd be a bit "too much" but I think they look okay.
  11. Thanks Kevin. Painting white can sure be a chore but, in my humble opinion, sure makes a good looking scheme. I feel this will go well with my earlier build of the same a/c.
  12. I sent HpH a request for a replacement rear canopy. My latest notification about it is.....OUT FOR DELIVERY via FedEx. The box just arrived. They sent me the wrong sprue. This one is for the Infinity kit. Oh well, maybe I can do some modifying, etc. 🤪
  13. Everything done and just waiting for the decals to show up. If you will click on the 1st image it will show the best resolution and you can view the photos as a slide show. This holds true with all posts by the way.
  14. Thank you Chris. I lightly drilled them and then used a lead pencil to pick each one out. Seems to have worked okay.
  15. Gloss white always looks good to me Peter. Adding the "screws" wasn't nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. A bit tedious but not all that difficult.
  16. Painted with gloss white and "screws" added. Had to be careful as I didn't want to "screw" it up! 😀
  17. Last word I had was they are being printed and should ship next week. It's Bardahl Special.
