Fisher F9F finished
JohnB replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/32 and Larger Aircraft Ready for Inspection
It was a good while back when I put it on the SOD. I think I just lost interest in it but I'm glad I got back to it and finished it. I'm glad you like it! -

Wow. Thanks Peter. I'm happy you like the results of my efforts. I'll add this to the Fisher Models theme I started a while back. -

Thank you Martin. Since it had already been started with the cockpit already done it went fairly fast. -

Thank you Hubert. I'm glad I revived the build as I think it turned out well. I'm glad you like it. -
Done with this one. https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/18260-fisher-f9f-finished/

I'm calling this one done. Certainly not a shake and bake but it's nice to have saved it from the SOD. Essentially OOB with a few additions like the nose guns from my stash. It depicts a Panther off the USS Leyte in 1950, same as the F4U-4 I recently finished. Painted with MM GSB and Alclad Dark Aluminum. Decals are partly from the kit (national insignia, NAVY, etc) but the rest came from my decal stash. I'm pleased with the results and I hope y'all are also. Please click on the 1st photo for best resolution and to view as a slide show. THANK YOU!

Good to hear you are feeling better Peter. And the Whirlwind is really looking GOOD!!!
-
Thank you Martin. It's coming right along.
-
Thanks Scott. I'm using the national insignias and some of the "NAVY" etc. No problems and they are very thin.
-
Thanks Harv! I hope to finish decaling tonight or tomorrow.

Change in plans. I have decided to model it as one off the USS Leyte in 1950. It will go well with the Trumpeter -4 Corsair I recently completed. I can scrounge the markings from my decal stash.

Thank you Rob. I'm a big fan of Testor's 1717 Dk. Sea Blue and it's too bad they have dropped production (along with a lot of other colors I like).

Ready for decaling. (I'm considering replacing the white strips on the canopy as they seem to be a bit wide. It's not glued on yet, just set in place for the photo. We will see.)
-
Thanks Peter. About ready to start decaling. Fingers crossed!
-
Thanks Gaz. I'll start decaling today. On the home stretch!

Excellent Mike! Outstanding detail. I'm glad you posed it in a diorama. -

I've got one coming so we will see. Fingers crossed it will match the enamel.

I've looked at SB and Scale Hobbyist and they don't have it. Didn't see it on ebay either. NOT a good thing. 🙄

Thanks Peter. The MM enamel is the way to go when it comes to GSB. I keep several bottles on hand.
