Trumpeter F4F-4 finished
JohnB replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/32 and Larger Aircraft Ready for Inspection
Thank you! -
Thanks Peter.

All done. Check completed work.

Finished with this one I'm pleased to say. I did have some high cuss-factor moments especially the landing gear. I replaced the poor kit seat and control stick with items from my stash. Painted with Model Master Navy Blue Gray, White Ensign Lt. Gull Gray, and Colourcoats Bronze Green. Decals are from Wolfpack Designs and depict a a/c flown by Marion Carl on Guadalcanal. The finished model does have a couple of shortcomings but that's just the way it is. Still, I hope you guys like the results of my efforts. Remember to click on the first photo for best resolution and slide show.

Thanks Kai! I'll have it finished in a day or two since the decals I was waiting for have arrived.

Thanks Dennis. I agree. The markings should really bring it to life.

Thank you Gaz.

Thanks Peter.

A much better photo this time around. 😉 If you will click on the photo it has much better resolution.

I don't think so but we will see when I take more pics later.

Thanks Harv! For some reason the 2nd picture is "off" a bit in color. The background should show up as gray not red-brown. Go figure.

Main painting done. I'll hit it with some clear gloss so I can add the decals. Then some weathering, etc.
-
Thanks Peter. I have to say, it LOOKS like a Wildcat! LOL After the painting and decaling are done it ought to look pretty nice. I have another set of Wolfpack decals coming from SB. The one I ordered previously is 1/48!!! I hate it when I screw up like that! (Not the 1st time either.)

I figure folding them would be a high cuss-factor operation. Good luck with your build!

THAT is a good idea Peter!

Making progress but THIS will need some strip plastic to fix. I have to say, they must have had the "B" team on this kit as there have been other areas that were a bit of a problem.

Thanks Kai!!!

Thanks Peter. The kit procedure worked okay but I did use a combination of CA glue and liquid styrene cement. Luckily they seem to be quite strong (knock on wood!).😉

Not me Gaz! Thanks Gaz!

I've found a couple of sources that give different call outs for that. The Squadron Signal #191 F4F Wildcat in Action says they left the factory with Bronze Green cockpits. The Detail & Scale #30 on the Wildcat quotes zinc chromate green (not to be confused with the yellow tinted ZC). However, in the color photo section of that book it has several very nice color pics of the interior of a FM-2 Wildcat and, to my eyes, it appears to be Bronze Green. It may be that some did have ZCG interiors and some had BG interiors. Take your pick! LOL
