Keeping busy Carl. Oil all over probably from running it hard racing would be my estimation. 😉 -
Since I'm into building air racers right now I decided to build another Trumpeter P-51B air racer. This time it will be "The Houstonian". Not quite as flashy as my others but still a good looking racer.

FW 190 A5 with friend
JohnB replied to Rod Bettencourt's topic in LSM 1/32 and Larger Aircraft Ready for Inspection
Nice work Rod. Very well done! -
Thanks Peter. I think this one will go well with my other air racer builds and the P-38 airshow bird.
-
Thanks Martin.

Got the exhaust stains applied so now I'll be ready to attach the wings later today. I also tried my hand at window tinting since this a/c did have the canopy tinted.
-
LOL Peter! If I remember correctly I painted the body of that car something like candy apple purple using a rattle can. At the time I thought it looked great! LOL
-
This is certainly something out of the usual aircraft builds! I'm sure it will be a great looking model. I think the last car model I built was a "32 Ford jalopy way back in the 60's.
-
Yes it is a nice touch and sure makes attaching the exhausts easier.

Coming along. Just waiting for the canopy masks.
-
I'm waiting for some canopy masks (due Sat.) to arrive so, in the mean time, I have decided to paint the wings. Three coats of flat white and two of gloss so far. I'll probably apply one more coat of gloss white then I intend to add the exhaust stains. Since the wings aren't attached to the fuselage yet it should be easier to apply the stains. When the paint masks show up I'll paint the fuselage and then attach the wings. Should be easy peasy since when I did a test fit they fit great with no big seams to worry about. Fingers crossed!

Well, looks like the USPS done done it to me again!

I have to say being single (divorced) has a lot to be said for it if you know what I mean! LOL 😄 -
You and me both Peter.
-
I suppose if I want one I better get it now since they will likely be hard to find before long. 🙄 SB and Scale Hobbyist are out so I went on and ordered one on ebay from England. 😉
-
I'm fence sitting on getting the ICM B-26K. Maybe, maybe not. 🙄
-
I test fit the wings to the fuselage and they fit just right. Won't need any filler there!
-
Thank you Peter. It's coming along.
-
Making some progress on the fuselage. Seems to need a fair amount of putty but that's probably my fault. 🙄

P-39 Cobra II ready for inspection
JohnB replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/32 and Larger Aircraft Ready for Inspection
Thanks Phil. I agree, especially with that new prop which barely clears the ground in the first place. -

Thank you Gaz. I think it turned out quite well. I use 3 different Alclad Lacquers depending on the model and how I want it to finally look. On this one I used Alclad Klear Kote Semi-Matte. On others I might use Alclad Gloss Klear Kote or Alclad Clear Base. All work well for me (and they don't have to be thinned which is a plus).
