  1. I agree Ernie. I contemplated using the kit pit but the lack of detail decided me on the Aires pit even though Aires has always been something of a pita to use. I hope there won't be any "surprises" when I go to assemble the cowling, etc.
  2. Took a lot of cutting and grinding with my Dremel but it finally seems to fit. The tub is painted Dk. Gull Gray right now and I'll hand paint the consoles, etc later. Couple of cuts in the front but they won't be very visible later.
  3. Been working on the Aires cockpit piece. Took a LOT of cutting and trimming to get it to fit okay but I think it will fit alright now (fingers crossed).
  4. I've been retired for over 7 years now and don't regret it one bit!😀
  5. Certainly out of the ordinary Bill. It'll be a looker for sure! (You are correct! That is one big airplane. I saw one over at Carswell AFB back in the late 60's or early 70's and I too was surprised at how big it was.)
  6. Just for grins guys here's a Facebook page I think y'all would like. https://www.facebook.com/groups/999706333830374/?multi_permalinks=1333194380481566&notif_id=1650986724108396&notif_t=feedback_reaction_generic&ref=notif It's devoted to T-28's.
  7. Thank you Martin. I hope the Aires cockpit set arrives SOON so I can resume work on the model. I'm glad you like the RLAF bird. Fly until you die was the by-word of the Laotian pilots and a lot of them did die. Those two books I mentioned earlier had a lot to do with how I built the model. I heard, after I built the model, that that particular a/c was lost to ground fire. A shame! ☚ī¸
  8. Should be quite the flashy model being yellow and green!
  9. LOL Thanks Bill. I've about gotten everything done that can realistically BE done until the Aires set shows up. Mostly marking time now.
  10. Making a little progress on this one. Waiting for a Aires cockpit set to be delivered (Sat.).
  11. Thanks Gaz. Sure did have it's moments! LOL
  12. Thank you (I think). LOL 😀
  13. That'll be a cool one Gaz! I look forward to seeing the completed model!
  14. Something out of the usual Paul. Looks good!
  15. Interesting Martin. I've never tried the salt method so I look forward to seeing how your Mug-29 turns out. 😄
  16. I'm glad you like it Hubert, thanks!
  17. Thank you Bob. There's some real history there. I'm pleased that you like the model and I hope it does your father's memory justice. 😀
  18. Thanks Paul. I'm glad you like the results of my modeling efforts!
  19. One thing I failed to mention earlier is the nose wheel strut. The strut provided in the kit is BACKWARDS. If you build one of these, or a T-33, you will need a after market strut set with the correct nose gear.
  20. Thanks Paul, I'm pleased that you like it. I was inspired to build it after reading a couple of books about the Ravens in Laos. Meeting Steve Canyon and The Lair of Raven. Both excellent reads.
  21. Thank you Paul. This will be my 2nd T-28 build. The first one I built as a AT-28D Royal Laotian AF. It's not a shake and bake build for sure and has a bit of a cuss-factor but, in the end, it makes a impressive model I think.
