Hmmmm. That might work. I'll check it out. Thanks. Did some comparing and I think some surgery to replace that area on the nose and graft on some Hasegawa parts just might solve that problem. Good idea!!!

Should also be a good one for USAAF a/c.

My guess is a hard landing that jarred the tank loose. The pilot was lucky that day but was lost in combat later on.
-
I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
-
Sad but true. I'll probably do that also on the exhaust cutouts. I don't really see a way to add the slight "angle" though. Not that big of a problem though. As for the cockpit, a resin replacement, even if it's for a "E" (which is what I used for my 2 "F" Grey Matter conversions) is better than the kit supplied cockpit.

I checked out what he was saying using Google Translate and he doesn't say anything about when it will be available. Or did I miss something?

I had to step away for a bit as trying to get the windscreen to fit was giving ME fits. Now I'm back at it and I'm not going to let this frigger beat me LOL.

2018 builds
JohnB replied to wackyracer's topic in LSM 1/32 and Larger Aircraft Ready for Inspection
Some great looking builds! -
Yes, I've built two of Derek's conversions. I'll take some comparison pix plus post a shot of what is shown in the Kagero book when it arrives (Thursday Amazon says). Just for now here are a couple of shots of my builds.

I guess I'm lucky as my youngest son, he's 33, always takes care of any computer problems, etc for me. He built my last two computers so any time I have a problem I get him to check it out. Very cost effective! LOL

I guess I'll just have to get a copy of the the Kagero Top Drawings for the P-40 variants. I hope there will be some good info there as to shape etc. I have some reservations as to the size and shape of the exhaust cut out. It looks a bit over size and isn't at a slight angle.

I just received this kit from Free Time Hobbies and I have to say I am favorably impressed. The first thing I noticed was the very nice rivet details. Lots better than their fairly heavy rivets on the P-47D-11. The only "fly in the ointment", as far as I see so far, is the rubber wheels. Resin replacements will be required (at least for my build(s). The cockpit looks alright but not "great". I hope and expect the after-market guys will have some nice resin parts and decals to enhance this baby. As this is a "short-tail F" I'd guess a "long-tail" will follow at some point. I look forward to getting started on this one! Merry Christmas to me! LOL

Looks like a really nice kit. It's just too big and expensive for me unfortunately. Maybe someone will send me one for Christmas! -
That's a heck of a note Ernie. I'm sure it had a high cuss-factor!

Hi Tim, Received the piece this AM. Looks good. Ought to make a really good base for a Corsair! Thanks John

Trumpeter P-40F build! Checkertails?
JohnB replied to 1to1scale's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Is it a long tail or short tail? I can't tell by the photos. Either is fine by me! -

I've been waiting for this one! Looks like it'll be a fun build. Where can I get one for a good price? -
LOL Peter. Nine full build Corsairs and this R2800 makes 10.
-
I do plan to get one. I know it'll be a humdinger!

Thanks fellas! I wouldn't mind one bit if Tamiya did that. Here's hoping!

Finally decided on what to do next. I had started work on this Hasegawa Hellcat a while back and, for some reason, decided to back-burner it. Now I think I will finish it. Here's the a/c I plan to do. I'm sure the situation had a high pucker factor for the pilot!

Thanks guys. It looks like the Dutchdecals will work so now I'll see if I can find some. Thanks again!
