Moving on from the last Corsair build I think it's time for this. Revell 1/48 PV-1 Ventura! It's been in my stash for a long time staring back at me from the shelf. I will use the Vector cowlings and prop sets along with the Ultracast wheels and Zotz decals. Stay tuned!

Are you building a Operation Torch a/c or something else?

Needless to say, there won't be any more of these in my stash.

Thanks! That is a good looking -4 and would make a great looking model if Tamiya will ever release that version. It would be possible to build a reserve -1D in a similar scheme as I have seen photos of those. Something to think about!

As you all know I love the Corsair and, as far as I'm concerned, the Tamiya kits are the best and a joy to build. I decided to build this one as one flown by Marion Carl. Paints used were Colourcoats, Model Master and Xtracolor. After market items are Barracudacast wheels and cockpit detail decals. The seat belts are by FineMolds. I haven't added the stretched sprue antennas yet as I'm sure they would get broken while taking photos. I hope you like the results of my efforts!

I thought so too but the more I looked at the photos of the real a/c the more I decided the light blue was just wrong. I removed the national insignia from the upper wing and the fuselage and replaced them with some from the kit. MUCH more accurate than the goofy Fundecals I had used. I still need to overspray them with some clear flat but you can get the idea, etc. Scanned Section 4-1.TIF

Decaling completed. Now for a overspray with clear flat then on to some weathering. The more I look at the model the more the decals for the national insignias don't look "right". I hate to do it but I'm going to take 'em off and replace them with some that, in my opinion, are better. Fingers crossed.
