  1. Understood Scott. I had been thinking about this re-do for a good bit and decided now was a good time to go on and do it. I'm also considering doing a re-work on one of my KH AT-28D builds. I'd have to remove the underwing pylons, fill and smooth out the locating holes, remove the seat armor and gun sight among a few other things. It would be a bit more involved than the P-51 re-do but we'll see.
  2. I decided to repaint this a/c in a USAAF scheme from Italy. Not a lot to it since the model was already built. I just removed the decals, did some fine sanding, and re-painted in the scheme I wanted. Decals are left-overs from previous Hobbycraft P-51 builds. 🙂
  3. Here's a book that has lots of good info on the '109's. It was published in 1976 but it still is very pertinent to the '109 a/c. I've had mine since it was published and I rely on it for most of my Bf-109 builds (as you can see by the tattered and worn pages!). If you can find one I'd recommend getting it if you have any interest in the '109 a/c and all it's versions, etc.
  4. Thank you! 🙂
  5. I resumed work on this kit a few days ago. Most of the painting is done except for the fuselage sides camo, etc.
  6. Adds a nice new "look" to the P-40 I think. Thanks Carl. 🙂
  7. That looks good Peter. Hope you get your modeling mojo back in high gear! 😃
  8. I too wonder about that Peter. I think I'll give it a rest for a bit and come back to it in a bit. I don't look forward to trying to smooth out those wings.
  9. One of my pet peeves with Revell is how they do the wings. It's has always been my experience that this assembly method leaves small uneven gaps on the upper wings that can be difficult to smooth out and hide since they never match up. They should take a tip from Hasegawa and do it right.....
  10. I decided to start another Revell '109 model and use some of the Aims decals for "Blue 8". Great decals and I hate to just let them sit in the decal stash. 🙂
  11. I get my FineMolds belts from them and always have had good service. I recommend 'em.
  12. Thanks Harald. It has many more fiddly bits! It's been a long time since I built a Tamiya 1/48 Corsair but I don't remember it having as many parts. 🙂
  13. I'm glad you like it Peter. Thanks.
  14. Finished with this one. https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/20192-hasegawa-148-nmf-p-40n-done/
  15. All done with this one. I was a little unsure about doing a P-40 in NMF but decided to go ahead and give it a shot. I'm glad I did as I really like the way it turned out even though there are a couple of areas that could be better. The only after market are the FineMolds belts. Painted with Alclad Duraluminum. Markings are from the kit but except for the black serial on the tail. Since that was not provided on the decal sheet I printed out my own on clear decal paper. I hope you like the results of my efforts! OOPS! I noticed after first posting this that I had forgotten to paint the intake black! Fixed now! Click on 1st photo, etc......
  16. Coming along well Peter. I just sprayed the Alclad Duraluminum so it's on the down hill slide now.
  17. Painting under way!
  18. Should make a good looking model. Different for sure!
  19. 100% agree Peter.
  20. Thanks. This kit is such a easy build with no problems and good fit. Very nice for a change of pace from the Revell 262!
  21. Progress on this easy peasy kit.
  22. Thank you Carl! I'm happy that you like it. Thanks again.
  23. Yes, I've seen photos of it. The P-40 just looks "different" in NMF.
  24. This is next up and should be a nice looking out of the usual model. Seems like there were very few NMF P-40's that saw combat. This one is a 49th FG, 7 FS a/c. Just getting started and will post a photo or two shortly.
