  1. I decided to build this P-40 to depict a P-40E flown in the defense of Darwin, Australia in 1942 when the Japanese were on a roll. It should be a good subject for weathering since the conditions there were pretty rough. No matter what I tried to do the Interior yellow/green just would not come up to the shade it should be in these photos. Please bear with me as my photo editing apps are different now from the one I used to have (lost it when I had to dump everything and re-start my computer. I DO NOT like Windows 10!)
  2. Thanks Kevin, so do I. 😃
  3. I have it pretty well disassembled (removed ordinance racks, puttied and sanded placement holes, prop, canopys, seats/armor backing, gun sight, etc. Now waiting for SB to send me a canopy mask set.) In the mean time I've started a Hasegawa 1/32 P-40E based at Darwin early in the war. I'll start a thread in a bit.
  4. I'm glad you like it Carl, thanks. Just one of those little headaches.
  5. Thank you Peter. I think it turned out okay. I hope the T-28 will work out fine.
  6. Thanks Peter. I'm happy with it.🙂
  7. Thanks, I'm glad you like it.
  8. Done and RFI: https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/20213-revell-bf-109g-rfi/
  9. Ready for inspection. After market items are FineMolds belts, Barracudacast tail wheel and Barracudacast spinner and prop. The canopy snubber is part of a acupuncture needle! Painted with Testor's MM. Decals are from a Aims Decals sheet on late war Bf-109's. 🙂
  10. Thanks Carl. 😃
  11. Understood Scott. I had been thinking about this re-do for a good bit and decided now was a good time to go on and do it. I'm also considering doing a re-work on one of my KH AT-28D builds. I'd have to remove the underwing pylons, fill and smooth out the locating holes, remove the seat armor and gun sight among a few other things. It would be a bit more involved than the P-51 re-do but we'll see.
  12. I decided to repaint this a/c in a USAAF scheme from Italy. Not a lot to it since the model was already built. I just removed the decals, did some fine sanding, and re-painted in the scheme I wanted. Decals are left-overs from previous Hobbycraft P-51 builds. 🙂
  13. Here's a book that has lots of good info on the '109's. It was published in 1976 but it still is very pertinent to the '109 a/c. I've had mine since it was published and I rely on it for most of my Bf-109 builds (as you can see by the tattered and worn pages!). If you can find one I'd recommend getting it if you have any interest in the '109 a/c and all it's versions, etc.
  14. Thank you! 🙂
  15. I resumed work on this kit a few days ago. Most of the painting is done except for the fuselage sides camo, etc.
  16. Adds a nice new "look" to the P-40 I think. Thanks Carl. 🙂
  17. That looks good Peter. Hope you get your modeling mojo back in high gear! 😃
  18. I too wonder about that Peter. I think I'll give it a rest for a bit and come back to it in a bit. I don't look forward to trying to smooth out those wings.
  19. One of my pet peeves with Revell is how they do the wings. It's has always been my experience that this assembly method leaves small uneven gaps on the upper wings that can be difficult to smooth out and hide since they never match up. They should take a tip from Hasegawa and do it right.....
  20. I decided to start another Revell '109 model and use some of the Aims decals for "Blue 8". Great decals and I hate to just let them sit in the decal stash. 🙂
  21. I get my FineMolds belts from them and always have had good service. I recommend 'em.
  22. Thanks Harald. It has many more fiddly bits! It's been a long time since I built a Tamiya 1/48 Corsair but I don't remember it having as many parts. 🙂
  23. I'm glad you like it Peter. Thanks.
