I know what you mean except keeping busy building helps me to keep my mind off "things". 🙄 -

Thanks Peter. I did that correction on all my Corsair builds but just never mentioned it. -

Rear cockpit bulkhead and seat installed. You might notice the info printed under the head rest is black, not red as supplied on the Tamiya decal sheet. I just re-printed them in black using my laser printer. I've never seen any red one's in color photos, just black. Not saying there never were any red ones, I just never have seen anything but black. -

Thanks! It's not totally non-military, just now OUR military LOL. -
Agreed Carl. I'll still work on the P-51B off and on while working on the Corsair.

I'm gonna back burner this for the moment as a Tamiya F4U-1A kit was just delivered and I want to get started on it. Great service as it only took 5 days via FedEx to reach me! And the shipping was free. My TOTAL cost, including tax, was $127.00. Shipping HAD to be something like 30 or 40 dollars. What a deal! At any rate, this is the a/c I'm planning to do.

I've been working off and on on my 2nd P-51B conversion. I'm using the Trumpeter "B" I did as the racer "The Houstonian" and a nose off of a OLD Monogram P-51D kit. Fit isn't all that close but with some work I think it can be sorted out okay. I plan to do some sanding down of the panel lines on the nose as they are a bit heavy plus it needs some more puttying and sanding where it mates to the Trumpeter model. "Bald Eagle" will be the subject. I got the needed decals from Draw Decals which are for a modern airshow "D" but will do okay for this conversion (I THINK) LOL. Stay tuned sports fans and athletic supporters!!!

Thanks Peter. I'm glad you like it. One of these days I hope to do another in a different scheme. -

Special Hobby makes some fairly nice P-39 kits but they aren't even close to Tamiya or Hasegawa detail and fit, etc. The only alternative is the crappy HK kit which is better not even considered in my opinion. Sure would be nice if Tamiya or Hasegawa would issue some P-39's in 1/32. I built this one OOB except for the FineMolds seat belts and the rear fuselage extension "plug" mod. Decals are also OOB but I updated the national insignias for the later style. Painted with Tamiya OD and my own mix of Bell Green. Undersides are Testor's Azure blue which I lightened using some flat white. I tried to do some weathering without over doing it. After I took these photos I realized I had forgotten to attach the under gondola shell ejection chutes. I'll fix that later. I hope y'all like it.

Yes, don't even consider that KH kit. I built one and it was a real PITA.
-
Thanks Chris. It's a nice kit but it does have some fit problems.

Painting nearly finished. Next will be a clear gloss then some decalings. If you are wondering about the sand leading edges the decal sheet says the a/c was originally sand but was over sprayed with OD. Prop wash caused sand & dirt to erode the OD and allow the sand paint to show through. I think I'll go back and tone that down some more. Sure makes for a different look.

Thanks. Just about ready for some paint!
