I'm calling this one done. I'm not particularly happy with it as it just hasn't turned out like I wanted it to. I got tired of working on it and wanted to get it wrapped up and done. Happens sometimes I guess. At any rate it's finished. I added a CMK cockpit and some Tamiya Corsair wheels plus a gunsight from my leftover parts stash to help with some details. Painted with Colourcoats and Tamiya. Decals are all from my decal stash.

LOL Scott. Busy busy!

Thank you Dennis. Pretty good kits even though they are old school molding. The main thing I guess is it LOOKS like a Hellcat and adding a few "extras" such as a after market cockpit and wheels/tires from a Tamiya Corsair make it a pretty fair build. I can imagine what a 1/32 Tamiya issue(s) would be like! I plan to spray the clear flat today then start on the weathering, etc.

Painting and decaling done! Clear flat over spray is next then I'll start on some weathering and exhaust stains.

Come on Carl! Get the lead out! LOL Just kidding. Painting and decaling are my favorite parts of building.

LOL 😄 Reducing cuss factors is a good thing!

You are welcome Peter. Always glad to help out if needed.

Painting in progress. Still have the wings and tail to do but should have that done later today. Then I'll set it aside to dry thoroughly before over spraying with clear gloss in preparation for decaling.

Looking really good Peter. As always, nicely done.

I agree it builds up to be a good looking model as I've built 3 so far. Two USN trainers and 1 RLAF bird in Laos. Didn't have the warp problem with any of those. It's possible I'll re-visit it at some point but we will see! 🙄 -
Even though it's a fairly old kit it still builds up well. Adding a after-market cockpit and wheels helps to bring it up some to present day "standards". Still, it's way overdue for someone to issue a GOOD Hellcat kit in this scale.

Thank you Carl! All my cases are full so now I'm putting 'em on shelves. I hate to do that since they will get dusty but that's the way it is right now. 🙄

Thanks Martin. Very much appreciated.

Thanks Peter. I like that Jug too. Kind of stands out I think. (Sure would look good in 1/32.)

LOL Phil. Thank you.

Here are a couple more photos from Britmodeler. Very interesting subject so I thought I'd add them here with the others.

I hope you are right as we really do need a GOOD new tooled Hellcat in this scale. One molded with today's techniques should make a really great model. I was hoping Tamiya would start some to follow their Corsair line but it looks like we are SOL there.

I figure you guys have all seen the photo of the Hellcat landing while on fire. I'm adding a couple more of the same incident that you might not have seen. The pilot was unaware he was on fire until after he touched down! LOL This will be my next subject but not as a diorama (which would certainly look cool!). There are a few more but I decided to just use these. Made a little progress on the rear windows this AM. I wanted to get those done first as removing the plastic for them can be very touchy. Luckily mine seemed to work out okay. Not perfect but acceptable.

That was the first thing I tried Scott and wasn't able to get satisfactory results. A bit frustrating so I said screwit and put it back in the box. Not in the mood to contend with balky crap like that right now. -
All beautiful models and well done. You are catching up to me on the number of builds in a year! LOL
