  1. Trying to go slow and easy. Working on attaching the flaps (moderate cuss-factor!).
  2. Thank you Peter. I tried hard not to overdo it and still keep it looking "real" as shown in the accompanying photo of the real a/c. I hope to have it finished later today or maybe tomorrow.
  3. Making some good progress on the F4U. Still have a lot of detailing and weathering to do but it's coming right along!
  4. Thanks Mike. I used a mix of Mr. Color flat black and flat white. Black with a little white mixed in to give a sort of faded black look. I call it "scale black". Works with enamels also. (Pactra used to market Scale Black years ago.)
  5. Thanks Peter. Yes indeed it IS different! LOL Very unusual.
  6. Thanks Dennis. A bit better than I expected! LOL
  7. Thank you Peter. This build is going a bit faster than I anticipated but that's okay! LOL
  8. Painting is well along! Next color is 36440 Lt. Gull Gray.
  9. Turned out really nice! I like that Atlantic sea search scheme.
  10. This will be a beauty for sure! I look forward to seeing the completed model. I had one of these in my stash but sold it a while back. Now I wish I hadn't! 🤪
  11. Much better than what they give you in the kit.
  12. Thanks Peter. I thought the photo was pretty well self explanatory. All I had to do is open the existing hole in the wing spar slot a little to allow the Tamiya part to fit adequately. A little trimming on the base of the fold mechanism was needed to get a satisfactory fit that would be strong enough to hold the outer wing. Then I could add the other pieces. Clear as mud???
  13. Adapting Tamiya wing fold parts. MUCH better than the toy-like kit lashup.
