More progress! I have to repeat, this is the closest I've ever come to a shake and bake kit! So far NO putty needed, just sand the join lines and that's it. This would be a great beginners kit!!! LOL 🙄
-
I'm finding this one is as close to a shake and bake as I've ever worked on. LOL I have no doubt it will go fast which is okay as I just need something to work on until the FW-190A-8/R2 Sturmbock shows up mid-week.

Should be a easy peasy build Peter.
-
I plan overall IJA green with silver undersides using one of the schemes provided for in the kit. Nothing special, etc.

Bf-109K from SOD completed!

Thanks Phil! -
As I rarely build Japanese subjects this one is a little out of the usual for me. Something a bit different. It looks to be a very easy build and has really nice panel line/rivet detail. It will be OOB except for seat belts which I'll have to dig up from somewhere! LOL

Thank you Rob. Those FineMolds belts can be tricky to use since they are hard to bend without breaking them. I found that holding them up to a hot incandescent light bulb with a pair of tweezers enables one to bend them to shape without breaking them (usually!). I nearly always use them since they are so much easier to use than threading buckles, etc through fabric/paper belts. -

Thanks Ernie. I was a little unsure too but thought, WTF, give it a shot. Turned out pretty well I think. -
LOL Phil. Ya know, us old retired guys have to have something to do to pass the time. I'm glad I have this hobby as I've enjoyed building models ever since my mom gave me my 1st kit, a Hawk F-84, when I was about 6. Many many models since! LOL

A much easier build with none of the headaches. I don't think it appears much different from the ZM except for the engine compartment. -

Revell Bf-109K-4 that I had started a while back but put on the SOD. Rescued and completed! Painted with MM, Mr. Color, Gloy and AeroModel. Belts are FineMolds. Cockpit, spinner/prop, and decals are EagleCals, etc. I'm glad to have finally finished this one and I hope y'all like it.

LOL Gaz! I do have some ships in my stash that I hope to build at some point.
-
I guess so Peter. And I still have a -1D in the stash.........🙄
-
Thanks Gaz. Crossing the finish line soon!
-
Thanks. I hope to finish it off either tonight or tomorrow.
-
Finished with the decals. Next I'll attach the landing gear then do some exhaust stains and a little weathering.
-
If you are going to build a Corsair you couldn't have picked a better kit!!! A real nice kit that builds up well and will be a standout. I've built 16 of 'em! -1 Birdcage, -1A Framed Bubbletop and -1D Clear Bubbletop. Needless to say, I like the kits!

Both Revell Germany (FW-190-A8/R2 Sturmbock for one) and Hasegawa (several '190's) would, in my opinion, be the way to go if ya want to build a good '190 model.
-
Kinda looks like one to give a pass. Too many inaccuracies for what I'm fairly sure the price will be. I'd stay with Hasegawa if you want a good FW 190.

Camo painting completed. I'll spray some 02 in the slats area then I'll overspray with clear gloss so I can apply decals.
