  1. Making good progress on the cockpit.
  2. Thanks Phil. You'll have to refresh my memory. Can you send a photo?
  3. Thank you Phil. Very much appreciate the nice comment.
  4. Thank you Hubert! No, I think my record build was something like 6 days or so. I don't remember what the kit was. LOL
  5. Thank you Peter. I think it will look fine and will go well with my other Corsairs.
  6. I expect you guys must be tired of my Corsair builds but that's okay. I don't plan to stop at this time though. This will be my 6th Tamiya Birdcage build (my favorite Corsairs are the Birdcage and the -1D). The photos here are in "Swashbucklers and Black Sheep". The decaling/painting diagram is from the Techmod sheet. I'll be using some EagleCal national insignia but the a/c number, etc will be Techmod. One thing I've always liked about the Birdcage Corsairs is the Salmon Pink primer used back then. Very out of the ordinary. As I have mentioned before, you can click on the photos for much better resolution plus they can be easily viewed as slide show.
  7. Thanks Peter! I think it turned out well.
  8. Thank you Gaz. I'm glad you like it.
  9. Thank you Kevin. Nice and colorful.
  10. Finished up. https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/19301-f4u-1d-completed/
  11. Another Tamiya Corsair for the collection. VMF-351 off of USS Cape Glouchester escort carrier at Okinawa 1945. After market items are Barracudacast wheels and cockpit details. The FF51 decals are MicroScale and the one kill marking is from my decal stash. All the other decals are from the kit. Painted with MM GSB with a over spray with Alclad semi-flat. Quite a enjoyable build as are all the Tamiya Corsair kits! I hope y'all like the results of my efforts.

  13. Looking excellent Peter. Cockpit looks right on the mark!
  14. Fingers crossed Peter!
  15. Pretty steep price but not totally unexpected. Thanks!
  16. I know what you mean Scott. The Tamiya Corsairs, followed by their's and Revell's P-51's, are about my favorites. I think the only thing that could make the Tamiya P-51's better is new wings with smoothed over rivets. That's where Revell's '51's are a little better.
  17. I know it will look great. Especially with the Quinta set. Those weren't around when I built mine.
  18. It will be a beauty no doubt Phil!
  19. Thanks. Yes, you could do that.
  20. Thanks Gaz. I was a little bit apprehensive about doing that but, yes, it did work out pretty well.
  21. I think it's number 16 or 17 Scott. Birdcage, -1A and -1D.
