  1. Thanks Carl! 😀
  2. I'm glad you like it Ernie, thanks.
  3. Thanks Kevin. It's too bad the canopies are so crappy. The rear canopy fit pretty well but the pilots canopy just does not fit well at all. It would be great if some after market folks would come up with alternate injection molded canopies but I don't think that ever happen. Certainly would be nice though! 🙄
  4. I finally got the vac clear parts trimmed and painted today. Terrible fit but I got 'em as good as I could.
  5. Thank you Kevin. I think it turned out really nice. 🙂
  6. Finished. https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/20495-hasegawa-p-38j-completed/
  7. Calling this one done. Mostly OOB except for the Aires cockpit. Painted with White Ensign Colourcoats. Decals, except for the national insignias, are from the Kagero book on the P-38. The white triangle on the tail I made using white decal paper. I'm pleased with the way it turned out and I hope y'all like to too!
  8. It has had it's moments Carl! I had to do a LOT of trimming on the turbo chargers to get them to finally fit. The windscreen piece hasn't really fit well and I wish I had taken the trouble to fix it before painting, etc so it's just too late to address that now. Oh well. I should have it finished up in a day or two. 🙂
  9. Finished with decaling. Now for a clear flat over spray and some weathering.
  10. Progress. Those stripes and yellow cowlings would really negate the camo! 🙂
  11. I've always liked nose art on my builds. I've got the invasion stripes done now and can start on the camo with the undersides gray first. 🙂
  12. I've been working on this one and decided it's about time to post a couple of pics. I'll use decals that are included in the Kagero book. I think it will make a nice looking P-38 model. 🙂
  13. Thanks. Certainly not shake and bakes since they have some fit issues, especially the intakes which need plenty of attention.
  14. Thanks! I'm pleased that you like it. 🙂
  15. Thanks Mike! I too was concerned about the NMF but it seems to have done okay. Now I'm hoping I can get the tricky vac canopies done satisfactorily. Vac clear parts have always been a PITA for me! 🙂
  16. Decaling done and most everything attached. I still have the canopies to do. I put them in place for the moment to take these photos.
  17. I'm just happy to get it as far as it is since it was such a job to get it this far.
  18. Yep. Getting there. I just hope the vac canopies fit okay. 🙄
  19. Three coats of primer, one coat of Alclad Aluminum, and one coat of Alclad Dull Aluminum.
  20. Making some progress.
  21. Thanks Hubert. I'm glad I decided to follow your tip as it seems to have worked out okay. Now to do some seam cleanup, etc.🙂
  22. Going to need a lot of cleaning up.
  23. Hubert had the right answer. I removed the molded on attachment areas and CA'd the wings on at what looked "right". Now to putty in the cracks and smooth everything out.
  24. I can use that one remaining locating "post" to swivel and adjust the angle.
