  1. Gus Thank you for the photo - it does illustrate very clearly the corrections you have to do. I guess on this type of limited production kit, this is to be expected.
  2. Dennis Brilliant build - absolutely awesome work. I know, all to well the frustrations and issues you went through as I experienced most myself after going through chemo. Just glad you're OK and back at the bench,
  3. Kev Still looks terrific in the pics!
  4. Most likely not but just sitting in one spot for hours in a fighter and you can cramp up.
  5. Kev Holy Cow ... looking simply fantastic. Decal work is beyond awesome.🏆
  6. Thanks John An oldie but Goodie for sure
  7. Peter What can I say ... simply magnificent work. I've been in awes of your work for many years. The engine cowling is brilliantly done, the detailing leaves nothing to the imagination.🏆
  8. Gus Not completely sure of what I'm seeing but it does seem as if JetMads design approach of stacking parts inside parts can cause fit issues if the tolerances are exceeded and that seems to be the case shown in the photograph. Looks as if a lot of gentle sanding is needed to ensure parts fit together. Some nice progress on what surely is a kit that will test a builder's skills. and my money is riding on you.
  9. Seems to be the right answer - we're reading way too much into what is wrong instead of why. Eight hours in the cockpit surely could do it.
  10. Thanks Mike, from what I remember, a fun build with the usual excitement back then.
  11. Thanks Dennis It's been good few years, maybe more since I built the P-51. Just wonderful kit.
  12. Oh the joys of modeling.
  13. Yup, same old story .... been looking for specific paint masks for the Tamiya 1/48 P-47D Razorback and except for eBay. searches have come up: Backordered - Out of Stock. It's almost to the point now that if I can't purchase a canopy mask with a kit, I pass up buying the kit. Just don't understand why it's so hard to keep the more popular masks in stock. Another reason to try and focus buying kits that come with at least a canopy mask and seatbelts. I'm worn out and will need a nap.
  14. Thank you Brother Bear. It has been a long time since that build and if I remember correctly, a big part of my build inspiration was your IAF Mustang build.
  15. Thanks Kev, much appreciated. The anti glare panel is OD but I have no idea whose paint I used back then. Good chance it's Tamiya
  16. Gus The Rat detailing looks spot on the money and hopefully it will be visible when the Viggen is completed. I've only played around with a few 3D printed parts, treated them as the same as resin and all seems to work well ... CCA and I do wear a mask when cutting and sanding if needed.
  17. John Just a shame MM paints were discontinued a long time ago and what is left, is hard to find. Still do not understand why enamels seem to be treated differently then lacquers, while both have serious health hazards and need precautions when using. are
  18. Thanks Kev I think it came down to more of how the zinc chromate color was actually mixed as there were apparently different ratios used and the actual mix was a bit different in which directive was used. Could also be the P-47G 's that were manufactured by Curtiss Wright cockpit color was different but there isn't a lot of documentation or evidence to that. At this stage of the game, as long as the cockpit isn't green zinc chromate, any of the colors should be OK to use.
  19. Any added real estate would be a plus.
  20. Oliver How much bigger is the new dio base going to be compared to the old one?
  21. Thanks Rob So very much appreciated. I was surprised to see the build online a thread with links to other LSP builds on the forum. I got a kick out of seeing those photographs after so many years. She pretty much looks now as she did then as the display case keeps out about 95% or more of the dust and doesn't get direct sunlight so there hasn't been any paint fading that I can see with these old eyes.
  22. I found these photographs online while I was looking for a P-47 build I did. The Tamiya 1/32 P-51D Mustang, Tuskegee Red Tail: Dutchess Arlene, was a build thread I did on the LSP forum years ago. I thought it would be nice to share them, as I do not have the files any longer, just the model in the display case. From what I think I remember; the kit has the Barracuda cockpit detail set and an Alclad NMF (my first NMF). Enjoy
  23. Thank you for your kind comments on the Jug build. The cockpit was primed with MRP Gray and the air brushed with MRP- 229 Interior Dark Dull Green. Most P-47D's cockpits were painted as per specifications in either Interior Dark Dull Green (MRP 229) or Interior Bronz Green (MRP 132). Some actually were painted in Interior Green due to war time shortages and/or dependent where and who manufactured the aircraft. I've seen photographs of wartime aircraft where the cockpit was definitely painted in a much lighter green then the two specified and could have been Interior Green or looked lighter due to the type of B&W film used, which is what the instructions call out for.
  24. Kev Taking a break from such a demanding and intense build has been earned. Looking forward to following our progress and watching you work your magic on the Fokker DVIII.
  25. Kev Amazing and epic work. The level of detail being added surely shows the skills of the builder. Just blown away but the work and brilliance of the build.
