  1. Meanwhile, at Landstuhl AB...
  2. During 1959, the TEX ANG flew both models - Dog Sabres and Limas. By 1960, the Limas had eventually replaced the D-models. 52-3854 is a true blue F-86D-40-NA. The Limas were invariably carrying 53-XXXX serials. The kit itself needs very few tweaking. A gem of a kit. But heads up! Sloppy Hawk's reckless bunch of professional trappers have managed to sneak in some nasty glitches into the assembly and painting guide. Again.../As always...
  3. Oh my! F-86D, you say... 52-3854, TEX ANG?
  4. Sloppy Hawk F-5E spadework in progress... Scraped off two fairly prominent slide mould marks running along the lateral intake ducts with an X-Acto blade and started to rescribe and re-rivet the upper intermediate/rear fuselage of the kit. A good portion of the plastic, mainly the convex "slide" areas, depicts blurry surface textures. Some panel joints/engravings are incomplete and washy. Some of the rivet lines have gone for good as well.
  5. Or how about one of the most underrated 4x4 vehicles ever? No, not Dagmar Patrasová... The LADA Niva:
  6. You can't go wrong with an UAZ-3151...or a Tatra 813...in case you'd want to go BIG...
  7. And to make things even worse, if you forgot about the Iltis' limitations, that car would kill you. I can recall a good handful of really nasty (and fatal) accidents in 1988 alone...
  8. What an emotional roller coaster... But all's well that ends well. Definitely one of the nicest Capris I've seen. So take good care of her.
  9. Ernie... Just in case... The "Wolf" is a G-Wagen. LOL I hated the "Iltis"... I'm damn sure they laughed their a**es off at VW/Audi when they sold the manufacturing tools to Bombardier. Back then, a baseline "Wolf" (Mercedes G-Wagen) came with an 80.000 "Deutschmark" price tag. An Audi-manufactured Bundeswehr "Itlis" cost about 25.000 DEM. Now, you do the math...
  10. Fond memories... Sort of... LOL ISAF 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010...
  11. M'kay...that's odd... By the way... DeWalt... I'm going to keep things simple (and puristic) and decided to have my Wolf painted in original German ISAF colours:
  12. The current Ridgeline seems to be not a patch on its 1st gen predecessor. Only a mother's heart could love the old Ridgeline... Over the past two months, I've been really enjoying the advantages of a pick-up truck here in NZ. Too bad I'll have to return the Hilux next week...
  13. She's a cutie. Hands-down. Quite obviously, the designers, engineers and workers at Aero took great pride in what they were manufacturing.
  14. Quite demonstrably, you're well able to handle those "lamp oil burners", too... What Peter wrote: Keep 'em comin'!
  15. As longs as anybody involved is able to walk away unharmed, all's good. Nature leads 2-0...
  16. Welcome aboard, Scott.
  17. It looks like I can leave the snow shovel in the tool shed over the weekend... Pew!
  18. Che bella macchina! Those racy "Serie 5" Italians - C.205, G.55, Re.2005...Claudia Cardinale, Gina Lollobrigida and Sophia Loren... (If my wife reads this, I'm dead. She's Italian/Sardinian...)
  19. Reommended combinations for maritime role aircraft: RLM 83 + RLM 72 -> seaplanes (e.g. Do 24T, Bv 138, etc.) RLM 83 + RLM 70 -> landplanes (e.g. Ju 88, Fw 200, He 111H-16, etc.) (no word on RLM 81/RLM 82, though) Translation: "Unknowns": When did the development of the new MTO camouflage start? Did the trials of the new MTO camouflage already incorporate the simplified painting system using corrosion-protective topcoats? Maybe we should consider the development and testing of an MTO camo incorporating "shade 83" as a different, isolated process.
  20. Manlier than Putin? Angela Merkel maybe...
