  1. Just in case... I'm afraid I won't be of any particular assistance. Helos in general are too far outside of my comfort zone since I've never had much interest in those whirly thingies. Or as we Germans love to say: "Nicht meine Baustelle." (literally: Not my construction site = Not my department) However... You can ask me pretty much anything about MiG-23s, MiG-21s, Mirage 2000s, F-5s, Sabres, F-104s and a handful of other types. Or as many Germans would put it: "Fachidiot" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  2. So glad the MiG has fully recovered from that nasty spinal tumour... Every time a 109 is built, a puppy dies...
  3. For the sake of fairness one should add that said "inconsistency" is in no way ICM-specific. It's not too uncommon that the armament is still being treated with a lesser degree of TLC by many manufacturers than the rest of the kit. Notable exceptions do exist. One way or another, those being real stcklers for such details will resort to aftermarket sets.
  4. Usually carried as an asymmetrical loadout - the IR-guided R-40T/TD on the port pylon, the radar-guided R-40R/RD on the stbd pylon.
  5. R-40TD acquisition training round - "dummy" missile body with live missile seeker:
  6. Happy Birthday, gents!
  7. I'm pretty sure that "shape" is not going to be an issue...
  8. "The Shape of Things to Come" First metal cut... First styrene injected... So far, so good...
  9. "Never kandaharhar at a grubby Frenchman!" Fairly weather-beaten 2000D (by French standards): @GusMac What Ernie said, Kitty Hawk kits can be extremely rewarding once you've sorted all the odds and ends.
  10. What's the deal with this one? Is it a Sherman WITH a big stick or is it a Sherman ON a big stick? Looks good. Weitermachen!
  11. Happy times, indeed. 1/32nd is the perfect scale for a Mirage 2000 or a Fouga Magister. Not too small, not too big. Just about right. I've also got a feeling about Kitty Hawk. But let's see some plastic first... Lovely to "C" you - Mirage 2000C (RDI), EC 2/12 "Picardie": The early years in French service - Mirage 2000C (RDM) of EC 1/2 "Cigognes":
  12. It's coming together quite nicely, Gaz. The unpainted steel structures on actual MiG-25 aircraft only hold a rather dull and greyish metallic sheen. Except for the area immediately in front of the afterburner nozzles - titanium alloys, not steel. On aircraft with partially unpainted wing leading edges the unpainted area comprised only a few centimetres of the leading edge - approximately 4-5 cm on the top and appr. 3-4 cm on the underside. Certain batches of the MiG-25PD/PDS featured a slightly different leading edge assembly similar to RB and BM aircraft. You'll find PD/PDS aircraft with completely painted wings just as frequently. The leading edges of the stabilators were generally unpainted.
  13. Too true... And I have a feeling that Syhart will not let us down. <knocks on wood>
  14. Chrome this! I wouldn't be overly surprised if this one came with Swarovski crystal applications on its airbag covers...
  15. It looks just right - well hung. And I'm damn sure the value of that gas cap alone easily exceeds the 90 USD price tag of the 2008 decklid emblem... By the way... The car on the left is a Mustang. The one in the back is a Capri.
  16. Thanks, Martin. But I'll leave it like that. It's cheap and crappy plastic, but it's authentic cheap and crappy plastic. It was just something I noticed when I was rebuilding the car and had to order a new one. The original badge somehow "got lost" prior to shipping to Germany...
  17. As sure as eggs is eggs, if I had to pick one of those Capris, it would be the 2018 Bullitt. Can't wait to have my ponies back... Pretty much the only thing I don't like about my 2008 Bullitt - the decklid emblem. 90 USD of cheap looking plastic... My wife has made three things perfectly clear: If I should ever plan to add another Mustang to the pony stable, it's got to be a convertible, it's got to be built before 1970, and it's got to be blue...
  18. I hear you... You can't have enough Fougas. Just sayin'... (I need at least two DACO kits) One, maybe two 2000Ds. As to the single-seater, I need to see the sprues first. If it's going to be a "2000C-only" boxing, I'm out... I'll know for sure when I see the plastic. One of my personal favourites - "Cote d'Or" Mirage 2000-5F in experimental three-tone grey camo:
  19. TANGUY et LAVERDURE, Dan Cooper, Buck Danny (Rex Danny in Germany), Michel Vaillant, Lieutenant Blueberry, Gentlemen GmbH... Between 1975 and 1980, I must have have spent all my pocket money on ZACK and Buck Danny comics. Fond memories.
  20. It'll be interesting to see which marking options will be included. An almost limitless plethora of colourful special schemes. Mirage 2000-5F: Mirage 2000C: Mirage 2000D: Mirage 2000N: And now bring on the Ouragans and Mystères! Or an MS.760 Paris...
  21. If all goes well, it's going to be a hot autumn for some gentlemen... Preliminary distributor release date: August 2019 (Mirage 2000C) KH32020 - MIRAGE 2000 C (single-seater boxing) KH32022 - MIRAGE 2000 D/N (combined twin-seater boxing) Mirage 2000C boxart: To date, one can only speculate whether the C boxing will also contain the necessary parts to build a Mirage 2000-5. (box says "C", artwork shows a "-5" with a 2000C vertical tail) Recently published CAD renderings of the Mirage 2000C: Mirage 2000D/N boxart: <excitement intensifies>
  22. This has already been discussed on TOS. I'm afraid actual scale is 1/72nd, not 1/32nd. As far as I'm concerned, I'm perfectly happy with my AMK kits. Even if Trumpeter released one in 32nd scale...
