  1. Don't know why... But I've got to check (again) whether my two Hasegawa Hangar Queens are still where I have put them. Does that mean anything? Should I worry?
  2. Nice bench, Phil. Just imagine a life without Ikea and their tremendously versatile LACK series...
  3. Seems like another general law of scale modelling... "Size and scale of a model increase inversely proportional to the (net) available work surface." P.S. I remember times when my bench looked even worse... Until disaster struck...
  4. The ROCAF Tiger was my favourite. But then I decided to skip the Sloppy Hawk F-5F and buy two Italeri TF-104Gs instead. My pack of Iffy Hawk F-5Es will need more than enough TLC to get them "right" and will (most definitely) keep me busy for years to come...
  5. Ay Caramba! Contrary to their "regular" metallic paints, AK Xtreme Chrome and Polished Aluminium do not admit varnishing and weathering. AK explicitly advises so Maybe that wee bit of alcohol was hot enough to burn through the coat of Polished Aluminium. I'd recommend to use a soft cotton cloth (I use old T-Shirts) instead of paper towel to clean/rub bare NMF surfaces. The same goes for microfibre. (There's a good reason why kitchen/bathroom faucet manufacturers advise their customers not to use microfiber cloth to clean their products - scratches) Did you varnish the Polished Aluminium?
  6. Since it's not going to be the Trautloff/Luetzow G-6, please disregard my previous post.
  7. G-4 and G-6 Gustavs coincided within the WNF 19093-19999* Werknummern range. Several sources state "19456" for Trautloft's mount. Location/Style of late WNF G-4/early G-6 Werknummern: *Prien/Rodeike
  8. This one, Carl? If someone did an F-5S/F-5T conversion set (cockpit and radome), I'd be all in. Stunning scheme.
  9. Too bad I can't place anything on top of my future bench. Being one mighty stickler for order before the Lord, that Hobby Zone stuff would just be what the doctor prescribed. Blimey... Ryan, I'm darn sure I've seen your setup before...
  10. Sounds familiar to me. To me, installing the undercarriage is probably the most annoying part of any build.
  11. I think I'll have salmon for dinner... Great start, John. Definitely not a Corsair guy, but I really like the look of the early birdcage hose noses.
  12. At first, I thought it was dio of a destroyed german airfield. Late 1945ish...
  13. "AROUND NOON IN AN EX-RJAF C-47"
  14. Thanks for the link, Carl. Wasn't aware that some of their sets are also available with decals. Personally speaking, I'd use only the decals on my models. Unless it's one of the serrated schemes with real sharp edges, I much prefer freehand paintjobs.
  15. LOL I hate to say it (being a rabid Gunze devotee), but Gunze's 35237 looks off. MM Acrylic looks somewhat better. It's still lacking that very characteristic blueish tinge, though. Last resort: The Mix. Got some WW2 USN Intermediate Blue, Ernie? (Mr.COLOR C72/Aqueous HOBBY COLOR H56) And a clean jar and a dropper or maybe an injection syringe as well? 4 parts 35237, 1 part Intermediate Blue 4 parts 35237, 2 parts Intermediate Blue Or: 4 parts of Intermediate Blue C72, 1 part Light Gray C338 FS 35237, good ol' Intermediate Blue and its modern FS 35164 offspring are close relatives. (Just between you and me and the wall... I'd leave it as it is.)
  16. At least you've got a bench... Physically... Now I'm jealous. Sort of...
  17. Hold my Vodka...again... <notsoserious> Technically speaking, I've got a bench on my bench... </notsoserious> Specifically taken for the purpose of this thread and showing the current state of the project:
  18. Nothing on my bench right now. Plain and simple - no bench. Order (board cutting and biscuit joining) placed and confirmed. Plans and cut pieces list sent. Delivery time: three weeks. Assembly and finishing: Me. Still waiting for my tools and woodworking machines to arrive...
  19. Purely demotivational... "O Aftermarket Where Art Thou?" TwoBobs et al? Anyone?
  20. Not quite... Two different aircraft. 840456 is an ex-USAF 425th TFTS F-5F.
  21. Or leave it as it is... He wanted OOB, so you should give him OOB-ish 36118.
  22. Looks good. And you're doing a mighty fine job, by the way. The fact KH gives a wrong FS number for the darkest grey, 36118, is by no means your fault. Should be 35327. The lighter greys, 36495 and 36320, look spot on and are the correct shades. FS 36118 is significantly darker and lacks the distinctive blueish tinge of FS 35327. 36495, 36320 and 35327 are "official".
  23. Late D-3 from the 131001 and subsequent Werknummern block introduced the VS 111 propellers. Nevertheless, you'll also find photographs of later D-7 models with the earlier clipped VS 11 blades.
