  1. That's a great job, John. Really nailed it. On another tack... That interior color also would work well for RLM 02... Just in case you ever wanted to build a BoB 109.
  2. Did you read Peterpools thread? It's all there. Right in the first post.
  3. If you want the best soft edge camo, you gotta use paper and either tape loops or bluetack/silly putty blobs. Cut the paper to shape and use the tape loops or putty blobs to determine how far away from the surface the paper sits. The higher your paper sits, the softer the edge is. I had a feeling the pipe cleaners would let you down... but I didn't want to be the wet blanket. Tour new cowling fit looks much better.
  4. I can't believe you had a compressor with you!
  5. Doing the underside is easier and quicker than the rest. And sometimes several wing panels can sometimes be done at once... if circumstances permit. And seemingly go down in minutes. But sometimes you wanna do the single-panel game. And sometimes it's nice to see your work in a different light.
  6. I took a kit to Alaska so I'd have something to do when the old man and his missus were having their daily nap. Sadly, it didn't survive the return trip in the luggage. I left all of the little parts off... But the canopy was smashed . Luckily it was a cheap kit.
  7. Very nice! Looks like a tank, now.
  8. Very nice work!
  9. That paintwork is da bomb!
  10. My number 1 tool is a wooden coffee stirrer. After that, a q-tip.
  11. I spent more time foiling the fuselage and the leading edges. Luckily for me, these planes had fabric covered control surfaces. Doing the P-47 with it's metal covered surfaces... would be a bear. The last picture... is my bench with the accoutrements and detritus of foiling.
  12. That T-55 looks real good!
  13. I had to take a break from foiling to at a feature. The plane I am doing originally carried the 40mm Ho-301 cannon which was found to be unsatisfactory due to low rate of fire and low muzzle velocity. So, the guys in the field replaced the Ho-301 with the Ho-103 12.7mm auto cannon, but still had to use the Ho-301 mounting. I wish I knew more about the Ho-103 and the ammo it fired. The only thing I know about it for sure was that it was copied from the Italian Breda Safat and had lower ballistic properties than the M2 Browning, but higher properties than the MG 131. Anyway... I bought 56 inches of 3/16 (4.8mm) Evergreen tube and ended up using only 1 inch of it. I used brass tubes to show the muzzle ends of the Ho-103's.
  14. Taube! Taube! Taube! I know... you live the Taube.
  15. I've got a Kotare Spit on the way.
  16. Chris, I always make my paint splotchy, usually tinting the base color at least twice. I find if you can keep it from looking too uniform, it helps weather the model.
  17. Wham bam! Nice and quick progress. It's been so long since I did a build so quickly. I always feel like I've gone wrong somewhere.
  18. Damn, I didn't know the squids wore brown wingtips in combat.
  19. Some places got the 'sticky pipe tape' Mostly kitchen and chocolate bar foil. for some of the access hatches I'm using BMF because it has a slightly different tint.
