  1. Yea, kind of missing all those panel lines and rivets that would otherwise distract from imperfections.
  2. Congrats on stepping outside the box! Patience is going to be your friend on this one. I’m kind of like you with getting the instant gratification with faster building kits. But over the years I’ve bought a few kits that I look back on now and say, “Scott, WTH were you thinking?” I’m afraid they might have their own SOD still in the box if I don’t sell them off. Ex: 1/200 Arizona from Trumpeter.
  3. Box ‘O paint! My USA Gundam order from last weeks 25% off sale
  4. Probably a semi or flat. That pic a page back was soaking wet paint I had just applied. It’s dulled out pretty nice.
  5. Off roading was a big part of my oldest sons early years. Many times I got the call to come help him get the Samurai out of the mud and stump pit. It was almost like he wanted to get stuck. I hated to sell that Samurai, but I got tired of the 11 pm calls (yea, no idea why a teenager has to do this stuff that late at night) and being his pit crew to rebuild after a weekend of stupidity. I enjoyed going on established backroads in the woods, but nothing like my boy did.
  6. Well, just when you think you’re ready to paint, you feel this and sand on it. so you add more putty. Gotta let it dry now.
  7. WooHoo! First one across the finish line! Looks great Peter! At my stage in the game I’m hoping to make it to the finish line! I’ve had to assemble a rolling work stand to move the thing around.
  8. Just got finished bending itty-bitty tiny cleats. yea, that’s a single edge razor blade.
  9. Man, that sounds great. But one day those guys will regret being that close without wearing ear pro. I say that as I sit here listening to the never ending reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee in my ears right now.
  10. I think someone is about to steal home plate.
  11. Wow Peter! That is gorgeous! Looks like you might be the first post under completed wet builds. Speaking of oral surgery, mine called the other day about my follow up after a molar extraction and bone graft for an implant. Told me they needed to reschedule. LOL! I didn’t even know I had the appointment. Told them no problem, as I wasn’t going for the implant anyway. Back molar, not visible so not spending $5k on it. Feels a little funny chewing, but I’ll learn to embrace it.
  12. And now we finally have some paint!! Almost an entire bottle of Mr. Color FS36622 on just the bottom. Found a spot or two I might go back and fix. But going to wait for it to dry first. Looked bad under wet paint. Let’s wait for it to flatten out.
  13. Paint arrived from Sprue Brothers and I’m happy to say that the colors look perfect! I guess it’s such an odd color that it’s hard to judge by a computer screen or recreate in a pic.
  14. Gosh, I hope no gerbils were harmed in this story!
  15. Uh oh! She’s stepped up her game….. I kid! We bought this some time back to use as a TV stand on the screen porch.
  16. I tried with my boys. Just didn’t take with the competition from all the video games that were coming to age in the ‘90’s and early 2000’s. At least the youngest got bit by the car bug. Oldest is a 1LT. In the Army and wants to get back into building another off-road truck. I had a Suzuki Samurai I handed down to him as his first car. He’s got a transfer coming up at the end of the year to Captain’s training and then off to a new duty station where he‘ll probably start looking for a project car. My grandson is not quite 2 yet, so no modeling yet. Kid eats like a horse. I’d have better luck teaching him how to grill a steak or smoke a butt.
  17. My understanding is the front of the fuselage is too wide. Paul Fisher had been planning on a correction when disaster hit. I’ve got two kits in the stash. One of them was actually my first NIB large scale kit I ever bought. The first few were all second hand eBay purchases. I still have not broke the seal on the box.
  18. All’s good! I’m happy to report that it looks like I’ve managed to muddle through the worst of the build by getting the joints blended! WooHoo!!
  19. Man, that’s some dangerous looking evil tool right there! Definitely would require some skills to run it safely.
