Looking great Rob! I’m playing around with PE on my Seaview build currently. My next challenge, if I accept it, is tiny 1/128 scale lounge chairs and a table. I might skip them since I feel they might clutter up the area and I’m afraid they might come unglued and roll around in the interior. Your skills and patience is amazing.

Damn that’s beautiful! I had no idea the props on the P-38 turned in different directions. I remember reading some twins did. I guess if I had built that old Revell kit I’ve had for 25+ years I would have known this. 🤪

I think I have 3 of the old Monogram C-47 kits in the stash. One is the AC-47. I should get off the internet and get busy building so one day I can get to them.

It’s was actually a 7” drop. Just measured the tiles I took out. Being handy around the home is a double edged sword. On one hand, I can do stuff and save money. On the other, I get never ending requests. And as far as my satisfaction and feeling of accomplishment, I’m having to cope with getting older now and projects either taking much longer or having to hire it out. I don’t mind paying someone to do the work, I’m just anal retentive about how things are done.

Was going to post this on “What’s on your bench” since it’s my preverbal “bench” of things to do…But since it’s not modeling related I’m putting it here under general. This has been a “quick” project the wife has been wanting since we moved into the house almost 2 years ago. The kitchen counter behind the sink is/was at a really stupid height. It made no sense unless the builder was 7’ tall. Here’s a couple before pics After lots of measuring, pre planning and delaying it just because I didn’t want to do it, I sucked it up and last Monday we started by removing all the trim and running a sawzall blade below the granite. Man, silicone is very hard to saw through. I’m discovered the electrical outlets were wired illegally due to no GFCI this close to the sink. I simply flipped them over and installed charge port outlets because you can never have enough charge ports in your house! All that’s left is the trim and cutting the old tiles to replace the ones I removed. Wife is now talking about calling a painter since neither of us is going to attempt painting with a 19’ peak ceiling. So not worried about my Sheetrock repair patch painting. And my happy bride after her countertop is now where she wants it. Now a little trim work in the morning and I’m back on my Seaview build tomorrow!

Good explanation Peter. I’ve got a friend that was a lawyer (now retired) that use to drive all over the state to meet clients. 2000 miles a week was his normal. His driving skills sucked. He’s the kind of guy that if you rode with him you would get out with white knuckles and swear you would never get back in a car/truck or tricycle with him in charge. He’s all over the road, doesn’t pay attention to his speed (usually doing 25+ over the limit) and he’s one of those guys that has to make face contact with you when talking. So he’s constantly looking at the passenger and not the road. One day he told me he was thinking about getting his pilots license and flying to all the appointments. I told him NO. Just no. OK, more like HELL NO! At most, buy a plane, hire a pilot. Your mind is on the next client, not falling out of the sky.

Yea, I went through Sprue Brothers stock and saw that all the SEA paint kits, Israeli color kits and the JASD blues for my Wolfpack Panther conversion and the Have Glass colors was out of stock. Put them on my email notify list and ordered as soon as they came in. Kind of gives me inspiration to start these kits sooner than later.

WOW! Looks completely different off the bench. Well done, Sir! Hope mine comes out half as good. That’s something to be proud of right there.

Love my lacquer paints! Mr. Color offers more bang for the buck and you can use them for brush painting on small areas. MRP’s advantage is just shooting straight from the bottle. I have a well stocked stash of both. When I started switching over I actually looked at my stash and bought accordingly or put on my wish list for when they came back in stock.

To quote a syfi character from a different TV show from the same era…..”Oh the pain, the pain, the pain of it all…..” Talk about a fiddly cockpit build!

Ok, now you have piqued my curiosity. Not about the P-40 or the story behind it. But how in the H - E - Double hockey sticks do you find time to read and build all the models you build? 🤪

Well, it is Kitty Hawk. As Ernie has mentioned, there was a lot more going on behind the scenes than we know about that KH was not happy with.

If it gets wet……. In for the adventure!

I’m hitting the stage where this thing is kicking my butt! As any huge styrene kit, minor warping has occurred after production. But even worse, the design of parts fitting without gaps is non-existent. I’m having to add sprue goo filler for the gaps and differences in parts thickness. Might just have to jump over to Tamiya putty for these larger joints where they transition. It may not look bad in this pic, but there is a big difference in the “body line” where it joins together. I’ve already done three applications of sprue goo just to get it to this point. And the gap between the body and the prop housings or sponsons is pretty nasty. I’ve dabbed in one filler coat of sprue goo. I need to add more and hope it levels out better. Might need to make a thinner mix. Hmm, I wonder if I could apply with a syringe and an 18 ga. needle?

Have you followed Mike Rowe and his story? I was surprised to hear his life story that started with Barber Shop Quartet singing in high school. He says it’s why he is where he is at today. My wife had me listen to one of his podcasts on a trip one time. I was hooked on his stories.

Yea, it was a big Baptist church in Goose Creek, SC where I saw them. Funny thought. Every time someone asks me what my first concert was, I always say Mothers Finest and Molly Hatchet. I had completely forgotten about mom dragging me to the Oak Ridge Boys when I was 10 or 12.

Well, I’ll give ‘em credit. No walkers or wheelchairs up on the stage. But my God, I had no idea those guys were still performing! That is awesome. I’d love to see them live, again…. OK, just did a Wiki look up. Looks like it’s a band that has morphed with new members over time to keep playing. I saw them when I was a wee little lad when my mom dragged me to see them when they were a gospel group in the early ‘70’s. Looks like y’all had a great time.

Wife just got home from work and wanted a nap. Cat thought that was a great idea.

Is it just me, or does this thing remind you of the Batmobile? Think about it, same era TV shows.
