  1. No cut away needed. The wing nests quite well. You will see when I post next updates.
  2. I saw the CMK correction after I secured the Lone Star correction. Clearly the CMK is superior.
  3. The cockpit is short so I secured Lone Star resin correction set. Lone Star's resin sidewall correction (left) and kit. Depth difference is markable. The casting of Lone Star's correction is showing it's age. Soft detail and lots of bubbles/imperfections. That said I have decided to scratch build the deeper cockpit. Using Lone Star parts as template I draw on styrene card stock. Apologizes for the photo quality. Will be enhancing cockpit detail with Eduards PE interior set. Kit floor is cut at ammo tray. Save ammo tray mount as will be used. Prototype cut kit floor in position. Kit floor taped to prototype and final size is drawn. Mounting holes for seat frame, control stick are matched from kit floor and drilled out. Floor test fit. Seat bulkhead modified after the Lone Star part. Eduard PE parts added. Will paint and begin detail work such as wiring, hoses, etc.
  4. I cracked this open mid summer '16 with hopes to finish by 7 Dec for 75 anniversary. Pearl Harbor P36, P40B, A6M2b. As usual, life, family and another wrecked knee kept my bench-time to a minimum. My bench is configured as a standing bench and the wrecked knee dictated my time to something like 30 minute sessions. Trumpy's P40B with all it's known short comings. Will address cockpit, wheel well, fabric and rivet issues. P40B "White 300" based at Bellows Field 7 Dec, 1941. This Bellows Field post 7 Dec P40B has seen better days.
  5. Will be awhile before I start this. Looks lovely. A boatload of resin. The Mk.V currently on the bench waiting for Barracuda replacement nose.
  6. I built the Monogram 52 when first released in the late 60's early 70's. My first build using an airbrush. Took what seemed a lifetime to assemble and paint the external bombs. Had display issues at home so my LHS offered to hang it in their shop. Every year or two I would take it down and dust it then rehang. Fun times for a renegade teen.
  7. all the excuse I need to bring my Ju88 Mistel out and finish it.
  8. nailed it. weathering and salmon pink.
  9. love the scheme on this. really nice work....
  10. welcome to LSM, look forward to see your posts.
  11. Ha, I was stunned when I saw the gun barrel install instruction and then no opening in the wing. I have plenty of turned brass MG 151's. I'm even thinking about adding ordinance (gun pods or Wr.21 tubes) on the wings. My bench is pretty crowded right now and I have 2 builds (1/48 Mossie and Tempest) I want to finish by late April. 2 other builds (A6M2b and P40B) are going to the temporary bin when I complete the cockpits and button up the fuselages. Will break these out later My plan is to start the He100, DH.9 and finish my Ju88 Mistel 2 late spring. Of course my final plan is usually in direct proportion with epic collision of real life.
  12. US Plug unless there is an EU vendor for this Vac. Have only seen this in Micro-Mark website/catalog.
  13. A great kit, watching
  14. A beauty Dave. My son wants it!
  15. Anybody have one of these? Is it good for canopies? Any feedback appreciated.
  16. Beautiful finish Tom. I need to get my ZM Ta152H-1 on the bench one of these days. FYI, the Ta152H-0 is in storage at the NASM Silver Hill, Maryland facility.
  17. Turned that lemon into Lemonade. Nice recovery, build, etc.
  18. Cheers Anthony. Kudos for your collaboration with Roy to fix the nose. I'm really enjoying this kit and am very pleased with the engineering. So far its been a joy to build. Rick
  19. Cheers CoolBoxx. Stoked on this build. Equally stoked for the Mk.II.
  20. Jeroen: thanks, truly one of the most relaxing builds I have ever done. kit quality is exemplary. hey Mike, it was a fun ride. I was surprised how nice these went together.
  21. thanks Arnie. you are a building machine. very nice output for '16.
  22. Ok, my 2016 output is truly pathetic. Life clearly got in the way in a most positive manner. All good with exception of my right knee calling it quits and yielding limited ability to stand at bench for any length of time. All resulting with an end of year knee upgrade. I have over 6 builds well along. Once I get refocused on toy airplanes a rapid output is projected and will seem like I'm this building machine. Recovery from knee surgery is making strides and I hope to be back on the bench in a few weeks. Right now I can stand for only a few minutes. Must keep leg elevated and iced most of day with 10 minute walk around the room every hour with xrsizes x2 a day. These Eduard 1/144 Spitfires were a joy to build. A great release from dealing with several resin projects which were killing my mojo. Stay tuned for future updates and output. Take a look at my signature and you get an idea what's to come. Happy New Year and best to everyone for a super 2017. Cheers - Rick
  23. Clearly, a great review Jeroen.
  24. Looking great! What thickness shim did you use to solve the fuselage/canopy fit? Are you opening the canopy? The supplied canopy looks thick. The more I follow this I hear my He100 calling out to me....
  25. Thanks & Happy 2017! Waiting for Barracuda nose replacement. Tinkering with main wings, wheel well, etc. Just ordered the Mk.II.
