  1. For me,.my Birdcage Corsair is probably my best. It was the first time I really tried to weather a model as I usually do very little weathering on my builds. Trying to get the right worn paint look took a couple of tries before I was happy with it. My first try was too stark and I had to strip and repaint the wings. Carl
  2. Just reading this thread for the first time. Your figures are exquisitely finished. Can't wait to see your progress on the Belle herself. Carl
  3. Thanks! The tracks definitely add some weight to the model. Carl
  4. Ok, got some more done. The tools are painted and installed. For the turret decals , I used ones made by Echelon. So a quick clear coat and some weathering and she'll be finished. Carl
  5. How about this guy? He snuck into our car hoping for a lift somewhere.
  6. Completely agree with you there. Classic rear wheel drive cars need a long hood and short deck to look right. I just realized that my convertible could probably fit in the trunk of yours.
  7. Certainly nicer than Ford's last try at a T-bird.
  8. Or a couple WNW Lancasters...
  9. Cool, so much information and details I'm learning about these cars. Carl
  10. Nice! So that's the Thelma and Louise T-bird? Carl
  11. That'll rub out. Any other pics to satisfy my curiosity? Carl
  12. I can completely agree with you there. My Tamiya Mossie stalled after I made a mess of the belts. I ended up ripping them out and putting new ones in. It was only then that I felt up to finishing it. You're doing a great job and I'm looking forward to seeing paint on her. Carl
  13. Just got a newsletter from WNW that there will be test shots of the Lancaster at Telford. They also say they're hoping that price wise it cones in slightly higher than the Felixstowe/Brandenburg Duellist kit so $400 ish? Which means I might be able to pull off getting one of these to go with the HK one. Carl
  14. With our Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday I had time today to get some work done on the Tiger. It was mostly getting small bits on. I started with the spare tracks and the various cables. The ones for the turret were particularly fiddly as they didn't have any specific location points provided. All that's left now are the OVM tools and the turret markings. Carl
  15. Great review James and thanks from me as well for doing it. Carl
  16. Very clean and sharp. I use masks all the time for markings but haven't tried them for camo yet. Carl
  17. Great photos Jeff! I've only been to Vancouver so haven't seen anything really of BC. Still trying to make my way through Ontario where I live. Martin, I hear there's more fluffy white stuff headed your way. I think you need one of those Russian tanks with the jet engines mounted on them for snow removal. Then you get to combine all your hobbies in one shot Carl
  18. That's what happened to me. I started wearing glasses when I was 3 1/2. I was fine at the work bench and for reading but then had my eye surgery and suddenly needed reading glasses. The rest of the time I've got 20/20 vision so it's a fair tradeoff in my eyes. The good thing is so far both my boys have great vision (thanks to the wife's genes) so hopefully they'll be able to keep it for a while. Carl
  19. The family dinner went really well. The turkey was nicely done as was all the side dishes my wife made. Everyone had a good time. I managed to get to the bench after everyone left so finished up the turret. I've thrown the tracks on as well to see how they look. Almost time to start working on the smaller bits now. Carl
  20. Thanks gents. The Zimmerit is working out better than I had hoped. Especially the chipped bits.
  21. Maybe a magnifying lamp would help? I still haven't tried an optivisor myself. Last year I had ICL surgery and went from -11.5 to near 20/20. What a revelation that was. Then I found out I needed reading glasses because my car sighted vision was finally normal. Carl
  22. Thanks from us as well. Carl
  23. Thanks Peter! For the cowls, I usually have them in place but still removable. I've managed to get them to stay in place for the most part. When I'm gluing the cowls in place, I build the minimum amount of the engine needed like this one:
  24. That would be a neat one to model. Carl
  25. After getting the bright idea to check through a couple other Dragon Tiger kits in the stash I was able to find suitable replacements for most of the missing bits. There's a couple really small ones I can live with not being there. She won't be a contest winner but she will be done and off the SoD so I'd call that a win. Looking a couple of photos I found as well as some AM decal instructions, I started to heavily chip the Zimmerit. Then I started a very random camo paint job. I also painted in the areas where the Zimmerit had chipped away in Panzer grey. It's Canadian Thanksgiving and we've got family over today for turkey so I doubt I'll be at the bench. Hopefully I'll be able to get some more done tomorrow or Monday. Carl
