  1. I was on leave when this one landed , superlative Phantom ! I'm with Peter though , stencilling sucks which I why I avoid it. Applaud yours though.
  2. Love it , the fuselage , the aged paint on the yellow wings, rigging's bang on . Interesting subject too .
  3. I'm not starting till the GB is officially open coz thats how Brit's roll 🫵 .....and ...um ....my first entry hasn't arrived yet either 🤕
  4. I won't get delivery till Monday ...but in much same state , have paused the Chiefy for now
  5. 1st Sept I think , of course we are six hours ahead in the UK ....
  6. Tamiya didn't paint that....take a bow ... thats a lovey job of work you've done ! Freehand cammo too I'm guessing . FYI It's the tonal control I'm digging , very sweet if that is all "out of the gun" as they say . I'd be digging in the oils ot get a similar faded look .
  7. I missed this , Peter thats a truly lovely Spit ! I love that paintwork you done 👍 PW
  8. Finished ...made this kit twice now and like the Hasegawa Phantom FGR ( which is older and nicer) I would'n't do it a third time . Hopefully someone will make a nicer new Jag in the coming years Done pics here
  9. Terrible kit , really CBA towards the end but here we are . It's sh"te to be honest, not my usual standard at all . Even the decals were terrible would have gone a different scheme / bought some AM ones had I realised this earlier on . Please don't say it looks ok, it's not even saleable , and I was very selective with the photos .🤕
  10. This is 1994 tooling🫤 .....Junk ! I reckon their 1975 1/72 jag is probably faired better . Filling seams in 2024 is like learning to set point on your old car ....it shouldn't be needed / should not leave the factory like that for my money .
  11. Another braille scale , but some proper pix. No Whip as frankly was done in day . It was ok ish in an Airfixy way , best I can say about the kit . Preferred Revells 1/32 even with all it's cowling issues. Cheerzzzz PW
  12. I'm stoked for this group build . been stashing sandwich boxes already
  13. it will be done in time - It will be a huge bago'shite . Other than completing this for this GB it would have been binned by now .🫤 Odd that I wanted to do two classic British jets that I love and have built before and yet none of it come out well Reckon the sandpit will be far more me .
  14. Nice -your weathering is getting very good . Is that dry brushing you’ve used on the on the weapons? It’s effective ESP in a fantasy build
  15. I wish I'd seen his 6 Chieftains at the Market Rasen show last month , truly a sight not seen for nearly 30 years . Takom's FV432 is v nice as well Link to that Vid
  16. @HubertB @mark31 @Martinnfb @CANicoll @BlrwestSiR @GusMac @KevinM Thanks for the kind comments fellas . FYI That is a matchstick , as this will get sold on in a few months it helps to have a reference for size in one of the pics . I always find watery things seem a lot of bother ( hence I walked away for a while ) ,then they are photgraphed and then all that bother seems worth it .
  17. Ok so before the glue , what makes a MK11 ? Anyone interested - I have a written a full development map of the various marks , new builds and up grades to the UK's 600 odd Chieftain fleet over it's nearly 30 years service - ask and you can have a copy ? So new Chieftain production ended around 1975 for the UK with the MK 5 ( Tamiya's offering) They then reworked numerous ealier marks going forward with ; better engines , better gun controls , optics, ammo storage and on and on . As earlier marks were re worked , they acquired a new mark number. Most confusing was the series of upgrades know as Totem Pole , that took many early marks up to current in theatre standard. Some were done at factory , some at ABRO and some in unit . So, a Mark 11 never left Leed's Barnbow factory as brand new. A Mark 3/3 (1970-1) got a new engine and became a Mark 5, then upgraded to a Mark 8 (1978) , then went through the engine upgrades in Dark Morn / Sundance programmes , and then Totem Pole Confused yet ? at least you weren't the REME detachment trying to keep up with the spares Finally in mid 80's they got covered in the StillBrew armour and became a MK 11. Phew ........... Whilst HMG mucked about decided what to buy / do next, the Shah got overthrown and suddenly we could pick up a bunch of Challengers on the cheap ..so to speak ..so the proposed MK12 didn't really go far. 06 FA 52, the one I'll probably do , made in Leeds , went into service 1st July 1970 , went through an eventful life as above, spent her time with 1RTR in the 1980's and was stood down from active service in Sept 1993 , being "cast" ie written off 2 years later . I think 1RTR was the first to convert to Chally One in Germany , but could have that wrong. Thanks to the Merlin Archive for that info - https://merlinarchive.uk/vehicle/06FA52 From my other files I can see it's ultimate fate was to be smelted down . So , history over , on with the glue !
  18. Takom give you 5 options all British . 3 tanks based in BATUS , sand and green , 1 (RSDG) in all Nato Green and a final one (1RTR) in more typical BOAR black green . I do know an ex RSGD Chieftain crewman having built "his " Mk 6 before . hmmm we'll see .
