PanzerWomble replied to MARU 5137's topic in General Discussion
They used to start Royal Navy Deltic Diesels the same method - modified shotgun shells I think. -

Use a 1/3rd less of everything , takes up less shelf space ....a lot less choice though. -

1 /48 - part of my playing around with that scale armour last year . Did the Tiger, Jpanther and K2 ambulance. Pros and cons at this size tbh . This was left in the stash so finishing it up -

Wonderful work -
Ah back to the 1990's and when Tony Greenland covering everything in chalk/pigment dust , before people put it in "special magic bottles" and called it modelling pigment for 3 times the price . @FullArmor You can buy from art stores hard or soft pastels . Hard pastels when powdered will stick pretty well on their own , soft pastels less so . They both will dilute with water for mud effects and form a paint of sorts . you can mix them for custom colours too . Spraying gently with a matt varnish will stop then being worn off . Tony Greenland use to insist satin was more authentic for what it's worth His book is here, it's interesting but well dated now . I read it and sold it on TBH We can move onto misting Tamiya buff next to simulate mud and dust , that'll be modelling in the early 2000's ....๐ Both can still produce good results though .

Bit left field . I bought a bunch of WW1 aircraft prints from 1962, these two being drawn by Roy Cross (of Airfix box cover fame) who died this year aged 100 . Link to bio Bought them loose and now framed these two for my study . I had the Albatros as kid , my Dad had cleared it out of some Chief's Mess refit and brought it home for my bedroom . No idea where it went later on

1/48 Eduard F2B in the Middle East

Back on track after an armour interlude. Lower wing on and jigged up in my bipe jig ready for the pairing . Paper sheet to the right is cut to the angle of the wings to align the fuse and then all pegged out to hold it still . Can't remember where I picked this trick up from but it is useful . Tomorrow is top wing and starting the knitting . -
Thats the one . I normally buy the 75ml bottle, as it thickens over time . I have diluted it after a year but for the cost easier just to buy a new one. You can spray it from the bottle or with a couple of drops of water or X20a as a thinner. Even brushed it at a pinch on small touch up areas . Been using it 4+ years , really is almost impossible to get it wrong . Thin coat, thick coat , makes no odds . Sadly their equivalent gloss isn't as good . Picked up the tip from Alexander Pedan , a gifted guy https://www.instagram.com/a_pedan_scale_models/

Hurrah for the Gulaschkanone ("goulash cannon") Same basic design since 1892 ....I'll bet there were West German conscripts still eating out of them in 1982 ! Germans just didn't really do rations in WW2 like the Americans or Commonwealth, beyond basic bread or iron rations , they were still feeding troops from field kitchens like it was 1812 ....all drawn by horses of course. ICM love their odd little subjects that's for sure , & thanks for a nice review Fran !

+1 on the Matt , I swear by W&N Galleria Acrylic Matt Varnish , you can almost pour it out of the bottle and it levels flat as flat . Never had an issue with it other than it goes off a bit in the bottle after 12 months opened. Is it RFI / glamour shot time ?

Thats shaping up well, even if the aircraft itself is odd looking ! Banana - ish -
Built this lil Stug a while ago, ( build here ) .......didn't know what I wanted to do with it after that , then found these nice resin figures . Tamiya Stug, Panzer Art figs , Precision Ice and Snow's Krycell , everything else scratched. Cheers PW https://i.postimg.cc/3wC6N8S8/temp-Image6-Ul-D3b.avif

PanzerWomble replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/32 and Larger Aircraft Ready for Inspection
Nice job John, I like the subtle mottling , also curious how you got the engine to fit๐ณ my one build of that Revell was very tricksy getting the cowl to play nicely. FYI Lothar Fodisch didn't finish the war. Link to pilot info -

My bad - yes the Infini is also what I use- imported at vast expense from Japan . The Prym is flat that explains why for British . I picked up the notes from the late Des Dellatores' Website when I had a first go at an Academy Camel ... which are Still there in 2024. Just looked back on TOP.......... that build was in 2012 ๐ณ, when my skills were nowhere near what I needed to do it justice ...and that project was binned for sure .... Time flies ! -
.........& I thought getting to grips with my Silhouette machine was 'cutting edge ' ๐ณ* *repeats to self not going down this rabbit hole Bravo to you though Hubert , this will be a build for the books !
