  1. I hear you Rick. Scratch building is a fun, especially when it goes the way we want it to. I'm learning to do it clean and sharp...but its a skill I quite haven't tamed yet
  2. No problem. It's a great build. I saw several of these sucker at Reno while back. I hope to get one soon and build it
  3. Nice. A quick question....if the model is painted and is a rather large (F-14, Su-27, B-17) & heavy...while on the stand and moving it around in different angles....will it cause the alum bars to scratch the finish surface? What I'm trying to say is...the model is held in place by those four upside down J wires...which I see, but on the other side it's connected to sharp edges on those aluminum bars and they can scratch the finish surface.
  4. Rick, just read this thread and found it very interesting. I do have one of each P-47D (Has/Trum), so it's nice to see how well the Hasegawa builds up. I'm sure the extra rivets makes a huge difference in alclad finish, but there is something to be said about smooth surface panels. Also, love your rocket launcher tubes. I'll have to keep those in mind when I get around to mine. Well, keep up the good work. Mike
  5. That's a cool model. After you are finished with it and don't have room to display it on your shelf....let me know because I'll be happy to help a brother out
  6. Hmm...interesting. Looking forward to the video
  7. Jeroen, this is very very cool build. I didn't even know there was such kit in our scale. I will have to grab one for sure and use your work as a reference I think this the best way to build German WW2 stuff Mike
  8. Great thread John. I'm not big on German stuff from WW2 era, but I do love how in depth you are sharing your work and research. It's making me change my mind about building a German aircraft... I di have a 1/24 trumpeter BF-109 in my stash Looking forward to your next update brother Mike
  9. Well, I'll look forward to seeing it. Thank you.
  10. Man cave...what is that?? Is that a new word in English vocabulary? I know of a man desk but no man cave Very nice setup guys, I'm jealous. Lyle, next time I'm in your neck if the woods I will stop by so you can show me how you do it...hang upside down and build models... j/k buddy
  11. Hey Johan, I have see few photos of it holding your Tomcat, but can you show us the photos of just the stand...complete stand only? TIA Mike
  12. Thanks Dave for your reply. It clears few things for me
  13. Wow, now that's a beautiful finish. I have several subjects that require Bare Metal finish and I'm bit skeptical about painting them in such...as they show every flaws made my modeler...and I for one pretty fruitful when it come to my flaws in modeling Seriously, great job and a very cool subject. Thank you for sharing Mike
  14. I'm a sucker for winter scheme machines and you sir have done a marvelous job. When time permits, I sure will love to see your in progress shots. TIA
  15. Great one Florin. Another nice addition to the built collection Btw, do you still have all you models that are in your sig?
  16. Wow...look at that prop. It looks very real. I've seen several models showeing crashed landing but most of them don't do bend the props as it should. Very nice work Mike
  17. That's a food news. I missed out the last time around and I can use another one of these beast. So, I'll be on a look out for it's release.
  18. Can't help you with the instruction buddy but I know which kit you are talking about. It's a really nice kit considering it's age. So, I hope someone can help you out
  19. Hey Brian, good to see you here buddy. Sometimes it's nice to have a home away from home
  20. Just read this thread and I busted out laughing. I'd had similar thing happened while back and now I just try to play the blame game....it's not mine and I'm holding it for so and so... although, I'm running out of friendly names. Btw, Erik it's ok to take couple off lumps for the community. Especially, since it's L-39 kit is in the question Mike
  21. Paul, great project. I'm working on a similar project for a friend. The Pontos set is incredible. You are far ahead of me, which is good because I can look at yours when I get stuck some place I just finished drilling all those holes for individual steps and started on the ladders. I agree with you that their instruction sticks but at the same token I am glad they provided details like...templates for drilling all those holes. This is a commission build but I think I will get one myself because it's just way to cool of a subject. While back I read on Ship forum that Kim of Pontos details might do a 1986 update set as they have done in 1/350. It's not 100% but at east he's thinking about it Mike
  22. No that's good that you got pictures of this very subject in different view. I'm starting to look for similar photos and hopefully I'll get lucky Mike
  23. Arno, this is a great project. I have a 1/24 BF-109 and I wasn't sure what I'm gonna do with it but I had seen enough aviation art of crashed German aircrafts I though that will be cool. So, I am defiantly will follow this WIP. Btw, you're doing great and I love the Vallejo water in the pit. Mike
  24. Some great builds here...I'm gonna say...I'm jealous
