Still lots of sanding and shaping on the flap. And adding detail to the rear nacelles that are attached to the flap. in almost every photo you see some dropping of the flap due to hydraulics sinking. Visible in this photo is the flap indicator stick.

More goodies today. The Wingleader book is actually quite helpful in determining what is what on this plane. And decided to replace the thick canopy for a vacform that one. We’ll see how that goes.

Hi Gunnar, Do you know why the trim tab on the aileron is almost twice as wide on the technical drawing than on scale plans and photo's?

Thnx! I haven’t studied the cockpit yet, but that sounds like a quick fix. I reckon more corrections need to be made in this area.

Yes Kevin! The kit does not offer the option to drop them, so i cut them and now am working on the details. Gunnar’s help is most welcome here (and everywhere else for that matter!)

Those are scratch built

This Revell model took me the better part of a year to finish. All masks, no decals (1Manarmy.be). 3D printed ejection chutes and all the aftermarket you can think of. Master, Eduard, HGW, etc.. The crash relic is from the this particular plane itself, gifted by Cees Broere. It's the edge of the aileron. The plane was hit by friendly ground fire during operation Bodenplatte. The pilot bailed out. Chute did not open and he fell hard on the frozen water. The trim gauge and button are both from a Fw190 left cockpit console. The base was shaped from aluminium.

The flap is by no means a straightforward construction. In this video you see the rails on the edges extending:

Lots of sanding going on here. Added a layer of greencard and now sanding the shape into the flap.

My focus areas now are the ailerons, flaps and engines. The flaps need extra thickness, so i added a layer of greencard. Removed the indents of the gondola’s and sanding it all smooth now. Put the whole edge in my edgemate to ensure an even thin edge.

Here's my 1/32 Eduard Bf-108 Taifun. All masks, no decals. With Quinta Studio interior set. Scratched engine cowling in open position. Added some details to the engine and scratched the wing folding mechanism. Also scratched the cargo compartment behind the cockpit.

I reckon most of the forward egde dissappears into the wing. Like this? Only thing I don't understand is the cross section in the first drawing you shared...

In other words: This is wrong?

Hi Gunnar, that is very interesting! On the first drawing I thought the base of the aileron was flat, tapering out to the edge. Like this: But actually you're saying it should be this? Or am I wrong?

Maybe better to 3D print the aileron. The kit's too thick and clunky and has misplaced panelling.

Started cutting the flap. It has two indentations at the engine locations which should not the there. Glued in pieces of sprue and sand them flush. Will have to build up the upper side of the flap with greencard.

working on areas i think i understand. I intend to drop the flaps. This is a really unique construction which requires some surgery. I seperated the rear section of the engine gondola as a first step. Also figuring out what engine panels to remove and where to cut.

This model almost took me an entire year to make. I took no short cuts and really dove into the subject, since this is one of my all time favorites. On the base you'll see two data placards. The oblong one on the front of the base comes from the only surviving cockpit when it was still on display in a small museum. This is before it was sold to the states. The round cover comes from a fuel sensor (meter) from a Hs129. The Kettenkraftrad is from Tamiya and was upgraded with a Voyager PE set, scratch built items, a 3D printed front end (insane detail!) and 3D printed sprocket and winterketten. The model itself is my own conversion of a Hs129B2/R3 to a R2. This means it has a Mk103 cannon instead of the Mk101 as supplied. I used the Quinta Studio cockpit detail set, Master Barrels for the cannons, a Voyager pitot tube and last but not least... 1manarmy masks. This means not a single decal was used. The mk103 cannon, the open propellor hub, all the inspection hatches and other detail were 3D drawn by me and 3D printed. The scheme depicts the White K as seen in many reference books. Enjoy!

Thnx Gunnar! The ailerons are an easy fix. But the fuel tanks will be a real challenge. Mostly because of the bulging character. Not sure how to tackle this yet… I’ll see what i can come up with!
