wemattson Posted March 28, 2013 Author Posted March 28, 2013 Update: After painting I clear coated the model with Future (with a touch of Simple Green as recommended by Kojo) and proceeded with the application of decals. The Cartograf decals supplied with the kit are excellent and adhered to the surface detail very well with some help from Micro Set and Micro Sol. The next step is to apply the Flory wash and move on to weathering. Thanks for following along. Cheers, Wayne 4
Members Mikester Posted March 29, 2013 Members Posted March 29, 2013 Dude, that looks freakin' awesome!
wemattson Posted March 29, 2013 Author Posted March 29, 2013 Mike & Kojo, Thank you for the compliments. This model has been a blast to build. Cheers, Wayne
Wingco57 Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Wayne, Have you sealed in the decals with another coat of future? I had some nasty moments with the Flory wash that followed the ridges of the Decals, it looked a bit ....well strange. Great camo. Cees

Cees Cees, Yes, I applied another coat of Future over the decals to seal them in. After the pictures were taken I did the Flory wash. This was the first time I used this product and it worked better than I thought it would. The results were exactly what I was looking for. Wayne Wayne 1

Wayne Wayne You definitely have to overcoat before Flory washes, First time I used it I got the same result. In fact that was on a 109 with the same camo pattern as yours! Otherwise the stuff is awesome. The 109 is looking spectacular. I always liked this scheme.
Members Mikester Posted May 1, 2013 Members Posted May 1, 2013 Wayne, just gorgeous! I really love early 109's and you nailed this one.
wemattson Posted May 1, 2013 Author Posted May 1, 2013 Mikester, Kojo and Grant, Thank you for the compliments. Wayne

Dave J Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Fantastic! You should be very happy with the outcome of that!
Silver wings Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 Wonderful work, and it looks like it goes together as promised. I just bought the kit after struggling with the Trumpeter 109-3 for over 50 hours that has too many problems that I finally got tired of fixing and scratch building replacements. I also bought a tremendous amount of after market details for the Hasegawa Bf 109G-6 which I found in my stash from 2003. That will be the next build. Cheers, Alec 1
