Martinnfb Posted March 5, 2023 Author Share Posted March 5, 2023 Thank you guys….. spend few hours over the propellers a little bit of backtracking took place as well. After modifying the backplates/ engine nacelles to fit Tamiya propeller assembly I’ve realized that I didn’t have the matching spinners and backplates. ,,,since the HKM spinners are generally correct I decided to graft Tamiya paddle blades on HKM hubs. A quick update from my kitchen. a little sanding was done on the fuselage transition joint, in the progress I had to sacrifice the connecting strap(?). The front section was still too bulged and the bloated curves were protruding into the nose area. You can see the sanded area under the canopy all the way to the wing root. Now it comes closer to the sleek looks of the real plane….. its not perfect, but I can’t push it any further, without completely reworking the lower profile of the nose section. 7 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

BlrwestSiR Posted March 7, 2023 Share Posted March 7, 2023 Martin, you could try using Mr Surfacer to replicate the framing. Mask off the inner and outer edges of the frame, then apart Mr Surfacer 500. You'll need to thin it and it'll take a few coats to build up. Tamiya tape and a really sharp knife, I have to remind myself to breath as I focus through the magnifying glass. It's even more enjoyable with rubbish moulded framework. I'm a weirdo I know and have yet to slip and cut my finger (7 years of butchery when I left school made me fed up with trips to the hospital to stitch up cuts and gave me a strong focus when using a knife !!!). Peterpools Posted March 7, 2023 Share Posted March 7, 2023 Neil First time I heard anyone say masking canopies is their favorite part of a build but a tool we need to get better reacquainted as some of the older and smaller models, lack masks set that can't be purchased. Any chance of doing a tutorial on how you go about making masks?
