Nice work! That kit intrests me....I think it's now on my list.

It’s been the best fitting airfix kit I’ve built yet. Including the P-51,FW-190,BF-109,Mosquito,Hurricane,Ju-87, Hellcat.. it kinda seems simple in a detailed way. I really like this build, can’t wait to paint it. Next up is the 1/24 Typhoon!!

It’s a three prop spinner🥲.

got the props sanded down and ready for paint and got the exhaust pipes finished and installed , I was hard to keep the weld lines on the exhaust stacks without sanding them off but I think enough is still there.

Starting to paint. Trying different ways to get a soft edge.  Trying the putty method after I paint the dark green. On my airfix 1/24 fe-190 I used paper cut to the cami shape then roll taped it so it was lifted off the surface, then held the airbrush at 90 degrees to the surface, like it should be with the putty.

I also started to detail the engine with hoses and cables

Installed the top decals to see if I like them or I’m going to spray all the markings on. Not sure yet…made a canopy lock mechanism for the top of the sliding glassF648CBA4-922D-45ED-8589-D98E7B178881.thumb.jpeg.2c2bea7019dd497c9f3499ef3db34d66.jpeg99527497-A9C2-4430-9785-2D512DE5DBF7.thumb.jpeg.3936e6126ad4ec5fe7e2cbd9e49a7f77.jpeg

Well I’m going to remove the decals and paint the markings. Just don’t like the look of the different finishes between the paint and decals. I’ve always used decals on almost all of my other 1/24 builds but I’ve got the 1 man army stencils so this will be hood practice for the typhoon. The hellcat was my first model that I painted all the markings on and I’m happy with that one. The main problem is finding the correct color for the reddish roundel, I tried RAF hill red and it was not even close. I use water based paints to spray, mainly Vallejo 56B74E83-E3E2-4EA9-B4CA-229B97D7DD37.thumb.jpeg.d0c128deaf59deb4d382e7cf4e0415f0.jpegE0279253-50F6-49E9-8CAE-BDB0D42D4F63.thumb.jpeg.3cf5b0b6daf5df4e60d6c99177a9e176.jpeg

Trying different methods for the red locking mechanism on the outside of the canopy. The smallest rod I had was way to big so I tried stretched sprue and I think it’s a good diameter. Now I just need to clean up the painting and the canopy

Just a few more details. I decided to just use the decals from the kit instead of the 1 man army stencils. I’ll save them for the typhoon. I also need to rig the antenna and the IFF wire, paint the rear fuselage strip, get the squad letters on. Almost there!!! Got the squadron and plane lettering masked and painted along with the rear stripe. Ran out of paint as I was just finishing the stripe… a antenna and FFL wire, a few more decals where the painted items were and I’m done

I’ve heard that a couple times now, I guess I’ve only seen color pictures of restored aircraft with the red crowbar. It makes sense that the ww2 crowbars would be Soler or bare steel color. I’ll repaint it !!!

Drilled several 1mm by 1mm holes in the cowling covers and engine framework, then installed magnets to hold them on when I don’t want to have engine visible.D26A77BB-AD97-4A7E-97A8-8451983F4939.thumb.jpeg.2f0960566d856bdf4ce069841bf0743b.jpegFEC4A3EB-6AC3-4D48-82FF-7046BAEED74A.thumb.jpeg.77a5a4c9716cf7f2f3671080e479d31a.jpeg79AB5F9E-219C-48EC-A3ED-281A32946AC4.thumb.jpeg.09f9183945a415f8ba36d1c9e4d2f31c.jpegCDD90DB5-B011-42B0-8962-AF36DF5B5AF1.thumb.jpeg.4a999245229176398744d3d37f059716.jpegCB1C25B4-B624-4A42-B025-6570E8459F9F.thumb.jpeg.68963124aec6c0cf923d5c69b1fb7cbb.jpeg
