shark64
That looks just right in my book. Spectacular Pete. Is this for a museum?
GazzaS
Stellar work, Peter. Depite all of the bad fit of this kit, your efforts will pay off in the end.
Peterpools
Hi Chris Un fortunately, this past week, more medical issues to deal with but we're working through them -and of course, bench time comes last. Just so glad Tamiya ditched the toy like features and the replaceable/optional gear position idea. Granted it was a nice, solid and secure way to initially install the gear but that's where it should have ended. Since the gear needs to be installed now to obtain a nice, clean fit of the leading edge cover, it makes painting and finishing the gear a lot harder for me. The radiator under the belly just has known fit issues and take a lot of work to obtain a neat, certainly a blemish on Tamiyas' reputation for fit but it is what it is. With all the Tamiya Mustangs I've built in the past and builds followed, all had issues with this assembly. As far as the engine covers go, I never keep them as removable. Of the three Tamiya Mustangs I've built; one has the engine cowling panels off and the other to on. So this Mustang will be off and it evens out the playing flied. Just seems, anything movable and repositioned over time and they break or cause damage. Once a model is in the display case, I never touch them and they remain nearly dust free and escape from me breaking off small parts.
Peterpools
Thanks Dennis Much appreciated and the way things have been going this year especially for my wife medically, I've bitten off a build schedule that doesn't look like it's going to happen. So maybe I should reevaluate the idea and say: four Mustang builds over the next few years.
Peterpools
Thanks Rob, very much appreciated. Getting older just seem to mean a lot medical issues to deal with and we have been very lucky to have the best of doctors and superb medical care.
Peterpools
Thanks Carl Had to take a few more breaks from the build and the forum, as Diane still needs some additional diagnostic procedures and then the doctors can start her on a path of recovery. Agreed, totally and so glad Tamiya ditched all this workable and exchangeable parts. When I built the Mossie, it was a breath of fresh air not having to deal with all the toy like parts as well. I hoping to find some bench time, as I'm now working on the gear and then an update in a bit. Justy not a lot of modeling time right now at all. Peterpools
Thanks so much Oliver. Far, far from a museum piece but it's an enjoyable and satisfying build and headed when done in my Mustang Corral.
Peterpools
Thanks Gaz Greatly appreciated. Hoping to make some progress this week on the gear and it's wing leading edge covers. Then it's assembly time. 🙂
CANicoll
Keeping Diane, and you, in my thoughts and pulling for the best outcomes. Bench time can wait, but good to see you still on the forum. I need to do that. Nothing on the bench at the moment, but I do miss being here so will endeavor to get better at posting. Chris
Peterpools
Thanks Chris for your very kind thoughts and wishes. Hopefully, over the next few months, Diane and I will finally have our medical issues under control and a thing of the past. As a cancer survivor, I'm always vigilant and under the care of my oncologist. Agreed, bench time comes as time, energy and desire allows. When I'm sidelined from building at times, spending time on the forum is a wonderful way of keeping up, letting everyone know what is going on and keeping the modeling juices flowing, even at a reduced rate. As circumstances allow and keeps you from building and bench time, keep checking in so we can all stay in touch.

Peterpools
Hi Hubert Not yet as I'm starting to find some bench time, decided to attach the gear and finish up the wing before the next update. Never, ever a fan of how Tamiya decided to 'screw' the gear in place and make it removable with the leading-edge cap - just a mess for me. Thank goodness all the toy like features of that period of Tamiya 32nd scale kits have disappeared and is gone.
