Hasegawa 1/32 Spitfire Mk V Malta

Recommended Posts

I decided to embark on building the old Hasegawa Spitfire that's been on my shelf for many years and do it as Lynch's a/c he flew from Malta. I'll be using this Aires cockpit set since the kit one is very basic, etc. I'm not 100% sure his a/c had the sand filter, standard wing tips and grey blue/brown camo so I'll be giving that some extra thought. However, I DO like the artwork on the Xtradecal sheet so I might go on and do it like that. We'll see. :)

Looking good all ready, the Hasegawa kit is one of my all time favourites, pretty dated but also accurate in outline.

It wIll definately stand out from the rest with a Malta finish.

Thanks Dennis. It sure is a simple kit to build and should go fast. I'll have to do it as a clipped wing bird as the longer wing tips are missing. I have no idea what became of them but clipped wings will still be good. :)

Is this the Mk VB, John? The one with the pointy wing tips? If so, I've got one here that I could scavenge them from.

Thanks Bill. I'm going to build it with the clipped tips so no need for the replacement pieces. I appreciate the offer though! Thanks!!

Nice start on the pit John looking to see more.;)

Thanks Kevin. I've made a lot of progress on the build since it's such a simple and easy kit to build. And everything fits. I'll start painting soon. :)

Nice choice for your latest build and always love to see " A Golden Oldie" on the bench. I built the kit when it first came out OOB as there was no AM back then and thought it was excellent as I remember. I'm afraid it's long gone but it's a warm memory.

Even though it's a oldie it's still a nice kit. Raised panel lines and all LOL. :)

About done with the camo except for a couple of touch ups. The Extra Dark Ocean Grey/Dark Earth/Dark Mediterranean Blue scheme sure makes for a different appearance. (I don't have any Dark Med. Blue so I substituted some Mr. Color Intermediate Blue which, to my eyes, is fairly close. The upper camo is Xtracolor.) Decaling soon! :)

Looking mighty good and you might need to build an extension to house all the builds this year - amazing how you work so quickly and beautifully - no errors at all. :construction:

Thank you Peter. I need to do SOMETHING to store all those models. I've started putting some of them in card board boxes and storing them in closets, etc. LOL 🤪
