Revell Me262 B-1/U-1

And we're off!

First thing was to sand/remove the surface detail in preparation for the Red Fox 3D panels.

Then I started gluing the cockpit panels together. The fit is not perfect. Lots of dry fitting was needed to get it together. PXL_20240126_033946978.thumb.jpg.73e5245ec318294f94f445b4f3043359.jpg

It's definitely a different way to build a cockpit.

Nice , very inspiring, considering the considerable amount of 262s in my stash :)

I've never finished a 262. Came close with the Tamiya 1/48 kit when it was first released. So I'm hoping I can finally crops this off the list.

Last thing I did last night was start on the paint.

A quick test fit of some of the cockpit parts show they go together.

I may have to do some remedial paint work on the onion. The Xtreme Metal jet exhaust didn't come out the way I expected.

Love the subject.  I built that kit when I was an about 13.  Always wanted another to do it right.

That's the old kit. This one is from 2016 or that's what the copyright says on the inside of the wing.

Speaking of wings, I got the main gear bay assembled and glued in. I forgot to take pics until it was fitted to the wing.

Slight tweaking was needed.

The engines are together as well. I've left off most of the detail bits since I'm going to have the nacelles closed up.

Some of these sprue connection points are a bit huge.

THAT has to be the Group Build understatement of the 21st Century so far.  Caught me absolutely flat footed, Carl.

So much so that I laughed like a drooling fool for an hour.  And for that reason, LSM is sending you a ZM 190A-4 to go with your 109G.

Nothing like unexpected comedy at the end of a dreary day.

Inbound from Sprue Brothers.

Wow, Ernie. Thanks! I'm glad I was able to make you laugh.

I've never built a 190 before so thanks for giving me a shot at one.

Progress on the cockpit.

First up was the Red Fox 3D decals.

The IP dials have a nice gloss finish to them. Very much like they're under glass.

Then it was time to add the sides.

Having done some dry fitting, I knew there would be some issues due to warping. The problem is the assembly is too flimsy to clamp it. So I used masking tape instead.

Turns out I needed different strips going in different directions to get the warp out.

It looks like a mummy or something.
