Bonehead Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 The Triplane is the Eduard kit in 1/48th scale. The figures of the brothers were sculpted by me many years ago for The Model Cellar. https://modelcellar.com The figures were among the very first I painted with acrylic paints. Still learning there! The dog "Moritz" came with the special edition Eduard kit "Der Rote Flieger" which also included he markings for Manfred's 425/18. The kit is mostly out of box with some detailing and additions. I rigged it with stainless steel wire which works pretty well (but I hate the bright finish which cannot easily be eliminated). I would prefer to us ceramic "magic rigging wire" but do not have a current source for it. Can anybody help? The final shot shows the prop "in process" using the Tom Morgan method: the darker layers were hand painted in a combo of oils and Humbrol painted over an acrylic base coat. This allows for "infinite corrections" to the edges of the color until a satisfactory edge has been achieved. This was then followed by a "woodgrain" application of oils over all and finally a couple of brushed coats of "future" floor polish for a gloss finish. I hope you like it! Cheers!! Mike 7 3

biggtim Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 Really nice work - especially impressed with the figures, and at 1:48? Holy cow! I can barely build anything at 1:32. Tim 1

Mike The plane and Figures are masterfully done. It's hard to believe they're in 48th scale the detail painting on the figures are so good! 2
Bonehead Posted January 31, 2024 Author Posted January 31, 2024 Thanks for the warm welcome guys! I appreciate all the kind comments. I am more of a figure guy than a model builder. But I have a backlog of partially finished models (like this one) That I am hoping to complete in the near future. So. hopefully I will have more fun stuff to post soon.... Cheers!! 😁 Mike 2
