Peterpools Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 Dave I've been using Flory washes for years and love them. Best advice is to use them over a glossy surface, so you can remove as much of the wash as you want. Semi mat and mat finishes and a lot of the wash remains on the surface for a weathered look, which seems the way you're using it. My favorite color is Dark Brown or Dirt. 2
denders Posted March 28, 2024 Author Posted March 28, 2024 Thanks, Peter. Yeah, a glossy surface is always better for using this type of wash unless you really want to have a little of it stay behind. It is less "smelly" than using the enamel-based panel line washes. Onward, lots of surface to cover and I prefer doing different areas at a time and not all of it at once. And that's probably related to using the enamel-based PLW. 4
Landlubber Mike Posted March 29, 2024 Posted March 29, 2024 Looks great Dave! Do you guys have a good source in the US for Flory washes? I tried buying them from Hannants and was unable to. 3
denders Posted March 29, 2024 Author Posted March 29, 2024 Hobby Nut HobbyNut Models is where I purchased mine. He doesn't have all the colors. It's not all that long ago that he posted adding the line, so I'm assuming others have purchased from him and that's why he doesn't have all of the colors at the moment. 3 1
DocRob Posted March 30, 2024 Posted March 30, 2024 Looking good, the tedious masking was worth it. You can enhance the worn effect, by carefully sanding over the yellow, which erases the harsh corners a bit and gives a worn look. Cheers Rob 3
denders Posted March 31, 2024 Author Posted March 31, 2024 For anyone who would like the Studio3 file for the masks, I've uploaded them here. Dave 2 1
denders Posted April 8, 2024 Author Posted April 8, 2024 Okay, I think I'm going to call this one done. I'll see when I get to 'good' photos. 7 1
