Soo.... What did you just get???

More Italian stuff, I must be infected :D. The Ferrari is the only so called hybrid in the MFH universe until know. Hybrid means, it´s a multi media kit like the others, but has a "normal" polystyrene body on sprues instead of resin body parts, which makes the kit noticeable cheaper than others of the same producer.
This is a re-release, which sports new Cartograph decals and was up on the MFH page only for one day, then was sold out. I missed it there, but luckily Spotmodel had one left.

To fill the carton , I ordered some paints from Number Five and Zero Paints for different car projects, as well as a small picture reference book about the Ferrari 250 GTO and some resin and metal detail parts for other kits.

Nice additions Rob. I was on the Spotmodel site recently looking

for  some 1/12 buckles... nice site. I hope you do a build of that kit on

here....or that Tamiya Alfa. I would like to see how an automotive finish

is done with details like; Which airbrush Nozzle size,  air pressure, paint to

thinner ratio, surface prep, and etc.

Thank you Paul, this will not be my very next build, unfortunately, but with MFH kits, you have to buy them, when they are available or they might be gone forever or are in the hand of scalpers.
I have not that much experience with car body finishes, I only built three, but will continue with the Cobra Coupe, after the GB and painting the body is one of the next steps.

Rob, I have the same kit but the original release.

Besides the regular plastic body shell, I think  mine has a diecast chassis rather than white metal. I'll have to double check that.

You may be right Carl, I only browsed through the contents of the box quickly. It looks like this:

One of my favourite F1 cars ever, please do a WIP.

Still remember Villeneuve's lap at Zandvoort with 3 wheels. Perfect example of his unique mix of genius and lunacy.

I will do a WIP Gus, but not so soon. I like the car, but it is not one of my favorites and I have to do some research about it as well. Seemed to have been racing, before I developed a slight interest int F1.

Thanks Rob . I do like seeing your purchases. Always great stuff!

I'll be watching when finish that Cobra Daytona....a spectacular build that

will no doubt end in a beautiful model. I'm eager to build an automotive

subject. In my case a Tamiya 1/24 late Thirties Toyoda sedan that I have and I was looking for suggestions on how to do the finish. Any tips for

doing that Anyone?

That chassis/tub looks like the one. A big piece of metal.

More anime/sci-fi kits.

The first is the Asuka from Star Blazers

PXL_20241122_180917521.thumb.jpg.18eec8cfe25c7f63db938266132991ed.jpg

It's a support ship and is a variant of the Dreadnought class ship I built earlier.

Next up is from one of the Macross sequels.

Looking at the parts, this thing is tiny! 1/100 scale.

FINALLY found a supplier in Portugal where I could buy a CO2 cylinder for my airbrushes.  It’s been like looking for unicorn shoes.  And of course US and EU nozzle threads are a different size, so I have to buy a new regulator.  Because of course they are….

Glad you found what you needed. As for me I use a small airbrush compressor Purchased from a nearby Harbor Freight. I didn't expect much from

it but has proved itself to be excellent, reliable and well made. Like you

I had to struggle with the pipe fittings setting it up. I bought a set of

fittings and a regulator off Amazon....problem solved. Hope you get

everything working and I look forward to seeing your builds.

Some Items....

Yes, I did say I was going forward by only buying supplies...

Well, saw these on Amazon for cheap and bought them using

points earned.

I also bought a resin set by DEF to go with one kit. This kit includes

A set of wheels brake plates, and a pair of upper control arms for the front

Suspension.

The Tamiya kits are both small vehicles and the finished kits will be tiny!

Thanks for the tip. The headlights on the Tamiya Mutt have their sockets molded in

on the grille , yet the lenses are not clear pieces. I was thinking that I

might fill the empty housings with clear, UV curing resin after painting

the inside chrome silver, forming the lens .....Well, just thinking

out loud here...I hear you about the wheel attachments being

Weak. I know this post of mine didn't seem to make sense.

An early Christmas present for myself, due to the super fast shipping of MFH, it arrived even in November.
I wanted to have another MFH kit and fought a hard battle between the super nice T1G Eagle and the also very pretty Lotus 77 of Mario Andretti, which was just released. While browsing the MFH page, I saw, there is an older kit still available, which is a rarity with this company.
I checked the ungainingly pictures of the unpainted Brabham BT52, realized, it was BMW powered (I don´t like BMW for many reasons, which I´m not willing to share here), checked it was of the turbo age (uncool), apparently from the time, before I got semi interested into F1 racing and forgot about it.
Some days later, I found a WIP on Britmodeller and was hooked.
The BT52 looks absolutely fantastic under the hood, with asymmetric engine design, early carbon monocoque and a very clean streamlined body shape on the outside.
I threw my BMW prejudices over board and bought the kit, which was the last, as it is no more available. Now I have the most powerful F1 car of all times in my garage. The engine could produce up to 1400 horsepower out of 1,5 liter displacement :icon_eek: .

Nice one Rob! I can't get my head around a tiny 1.5 liter with an

output of 1400 hp! Would  you consider the kit a collector's item or

do you plan to build it?.....I hope you do! Anyway, you've got me curious

about the BMW thing, but I won't intrude.

I stopped by the LHS today. They're having a Black Friday sale all weekend.

It seems the Canadian ban on Tamiya aerosol cans has been expanded a bit. All Tamiya spray cans (paints and primers) were subject to a ban recently due to issues most likely with a chemical either in the paint or propellant. Stores were (still are) allowed to sell what was in  stock but wouldn't get restocks.

Now they've been told that any remaining stock after Dec 31 has to be returned to the importer. As well, Tamiya Lacquer thinner, Metal Primer, and their enamel gold paint(the only bottled paint) have been added to the list.

So I grabbed a few bottles of thinner just in case.

1000007931.thumb.jpg.1360a54904524ce7d4cd3302637bd4c9.jpg

The Lacquer thinner with retarder (Tamiya's version of Mr Color Leveling Thinner) is not part of the recall.

The new F-35C arrived. I wasn't going to get one but it was on sale and finished off the trifecta of F-35 variants.

1000007929.thumb.jpg.e1cce0193a0dec944b299bca66b7fe34.jpg

I need an LS engine for a Land Rover build and resin ones aren't cheap so this Corvette has become a donor.

1000007930.thumb.jpg.3aa386da58bb95d6d878873489929201.jpg

I guess I could build the Vette with the hood shut

Lastly, no buys like the Zvezda 1/100 tank kits. Way too tiny for me. For 1/2 price I grabbed them a few for stocking stuffers or just random gifts to them.

Nice pick Rob.

My memory of those Parmalat Brabham's as a kid was wondering what the hell Parmalat was! Back in pre-internet days it was hard for a kid in rural Scotland to find out about Italian dairy companies. 😆

Scary Carl, but I know the game here on my island, where it becomes more and more difficult with the supply of chemical modeling goods. And then there is the hilarious limitation to 30ml jars of paint.

I consider none of my kits as a collectors item Paul and I plan to build them all. It doesn´t matter to me how rare or expensive a kit is, my intention is to build it, if my live span lasts long enough ;). I have a decent vinyl collection with lots of rare and precious records, collected over many years. Each of these is played and none are sealed anymore and I never will sell a record. With kits it´s the same, because I buy kits with a rendering of the finished one in my head.
Actually, the BT52 is up on my to build list.

You're getting quite the collection of MFH kits there Rob.

That Brabham is a  bit different that's for sure. It looks more like an Indy car than F1.

Indeed Carl, it took me a bit to discover it´s virtues. Such a consequently engineered car in a time, where many cars were hand built curiosities.
