Administrators JeroenPeters Posted April 12, 2015 Author Administrators Posted April 12, 2015 Hi guys, spoke to Huub at the aviation mega store and he warned me about masking fluid. I use the very thin Vallejo one. I tested it on a window that i won't be using and it works perfect! smooth and tight demarcation. Removing mask with a toothpick. 8
Wingco57 Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Any tip to make the hard work for our slogging hard working modellers lighter, is a good un. Cees
kahunaminor Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Very nice work Jeroen, Forgive the bloody obvious but how did you apply the fluid? I see a brush so is that dipped or is the fluid "squirted/dropped" on and then the brush settles it into place? Regards 1
Verbeek Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Damn, you are good! BTW, maybe a little cheaper solution: 1
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted April 14, 2015 Author Administrators Posted April 14, 2015 Very nice work Jeroen, Forgive the bloody obvious but how did you apply the fluid? I see a brush so is that dipped or is the fluid "squirted/dropped" on and then the brush settles it into place? Regards The Vallejo masking fluid is really thin but can be applied with a thin brush. It flows just enough the creep into and along the panel lines. @Cor Verbeek: Is the Talens fluid thin or thick? 2
One-Oh-Four Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Besides, some masking fluids contain (traces of) ammonia. That wreaks havoc on your Tamiya, Gunze or Vallejo paints.... So be sure to use an ammonia-free fluid! 1
Administrators Fran Posted April 15, 2015 Administrators Posted April 15, 2015 JP i also use Tallens and is quite fluid! A great liquid mask! I never work with Vallejo liquid mask so I cannot tell you if its similar... but i work with Tallens and i like it!
Verbeek Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 @Jeroen, I think you can say it is thin, on his own way of course.
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted April 15, 2015 Author Administrators Posted April 15, 2015 i work with Tallens and i like it! I feel there is some great musical potential in this line.... 1
DB Andrus Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Have used this material for canopy masking, it's the same color as Jeroen's product: http://www.fibreglast.com/product/PVA_Release_Film_13/Mold_Releases It is water thin and flows beautifully. Would test before applying over painted surfaces, though. HTH, D.B.
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted April 19, 2015 Author Administrators Posted April 19, 2015 Here's a look at the formation lights on the underside of the fuselage. HK Models provide 3 fine fitting clear lenses, but I'm taking a slightly different route. Sprayed the base Alclad chrome. The used AMMO red, green and amber lens clear. Bot too much, so the Alclad shines through. These lenses weren't bright red through and through. And then filled the voids with Micro Klear. Hope to mate the fuselage with the wings today... 2
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted April 19, 2015 Author Administrators Posted April 19, 2015 Mated... 5
Administrators James H Posted April 19, 2015 Administrators Posted April 19, 2015 Too sweet! Not long off paint.
Pepper-Mint Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Obscene... Porn not even suited for grown ups. Fantastic work Jeroen.

Administrators JeroenPeters Posted July 18, 2015 Author Administrators Posted July 18, 2015 Sorry sorry! Got a little distracted... Today sprayed the pre shade and first of the medium idea gray for the underside: 1
Administrators James H Posted July 18, 2015 Administrators Posted July 18, 2015 Doesn't look like a fatally flawed, cartoon-like monstrosity to me Loving it so far! Will you Haggo this model?
