Administrators JeroenPeters Posted December 25, 2015 Author Administrators Share Posted December 25, 2015 Thnx guys! Christmas time, which in my book means modeling time! Working on the engine gondola transport frame. Pretty easy since i have the measurements.

Administrators JeroenPeters Posted December 26, 2015 Author Administrators Share Posted December 26, 2015 Hehehehe! The delivery time from Shapeways is a few days. Their dutch office is in Eindhoven, so pretty local. The costs will be around 20 euro's. Depends on the material and level of detail I choose. Is it cheating? Yes. Hihihihi
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted December 27, 2015 Author Administrators Share Posted December 27, 2015 Ok ok, so here's a little bit of scratching. Fuel filler ports opened up: And here's the finished 3D model with a ghostly representation of the engine for the idea. I took the measurements of the Revell engine and put it in there:
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted December 27, 2015 Author Administrators Share Posted December 27, 2015 Order placed! And as i guessed. 25 euro's (including shipping)
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted December 27, 2015 Author Administrators Share Posted December 27, 2015 And squeezing the nose into shape. Had to thin out the resin CMK chin considerably but i all seems to get together.

Administrators JeroenPeters Posted December 27, 2015 Author Administrators Share Posted December 27, 2015 Does the nose fit Jeroen? Nudge nudge wink wink. Cees I had to use some muscles and superglue, but it looks like we've got a successful nose job on our hands!
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted December 29, 2015 Author Administrators Share Posted December 29, 2015 Here's an update. I also bought the CMK exterior set with the fuel filler caps and life raft compartment. I'm adding the fuel filler caps to various locations on the spine. Sanding the CMK resin nose to smoothly mate with the fuse. Just need to describe some lost details / panel lines.
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted January 1, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted January 1, 2016 Lots of fitting and sanding going on to get the gondola to fit. Masked the gondola windows inside and outside. I'll post some pics later tonight showing what I'm up against.
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted January 1, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted January 1, 2016 This is what I'm doing. For some reason the resin gondola didn't line up so i'm making a green card flange. Lots of seams to still get rid of and flaring it all in.
Administrators James H Posted January 1, 2016 Administrators Share Posted January 1, 2016 Got to love a flange to sort the problem! Looking good. Can't wait to see under some primer.
wackyracer
Cool. Same issue I had with the gondola. I went the other way and fitted the cmk then made the windows and revell plastic fit!
