Administrators JeroenPeters Posted January 2, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted January 2, 2016 Cool. Same issue I had with the gondola. I went the other way and fitted the cmk then made the windows and revell plastic fit! I thought about that but then thought: rather be cutting in resin. I also thought about using the forward revell part and than mating that up with the CMK..

Administrators JeroenPeters Posted January 3, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted January 3, 2016 Masking the inside and outside canopy with Montex masks. Rubbery stuff that tends to peel off. Just make sure to press it down firmly just before painting.
Iceman
Nice work Jeroen, looking forward to the progress on this kit. I have had some issues in the past with the Montex canopy masks coming loose, they do not seem to like the smooth glassy surfaces. Hopefully you will have any issues. Administrators JeroenPeters Posted January 4, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted January 4, 2016 So here we go! What i need to do is scratch the engine bearers and the fram on the jig they're connected to. Only the rear of the engine bearers will be visible. And the shaft will get some attention:
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted January 4, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted January 4, 2016 Nice, Jeroen. Do these engine bearers indeed have lightening holes? Asking because I have seen Jumo-engined model kit parts with drilled out or molded-in holes while the real thing in the Museum just shows pressed-in circles in a solid bearer. Maybe version related, though, and other types do have holes. Sorry, just read - only the end visible. Hi George, I have a resin Aires set with Jumo engine. These only have the pressed in holes. The drawings i have must be earlier and show slightly different bearers with holes. See Junkers drawings above. Mine will only be visible 4mm aft of the engine. I might use a tarp to close the rest off so i won't have to use a valuable resin engine or scratch one.

Dennis.E
..My Uncle back in the UK owns the entire front end of a Junkers Ju88 (from the rear of the cockpit to the front glazing, complete with many bullet hits) - I have seen the photographs my late Father took of it. He used to keep it in a barn somewhere (the exact location of which has always remained a family secret), and now my uncle is gone I have no idea where it is!!!

Even if you don't know where the heck it is Hope you find it some day... Here's some progress on the engine bearers. Think I'll scratch the back of the engine too. Some cables sticking out. Administrators Fran Posted January 7, 2016 Administrators Share Posted January 7, 2016 Transkugelgestellverschraubungsaufzetsmutter is mounted wrongly And the front Propellerachsetransportbehaltungsplanke seems to miss the Achsetransporterbehalteraufzetsmusterhaken in the top picture. Otherwise they are krek de seem. totally agree!!! I also see that Panzerdulbegtransportfritxfockealbatroskinderkeller is missing on the first pic! Administrators JeroenPeters Posted January 7, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted January 7, 2016 Work continues on the engine bearers. Pretty snug fit. No glue is holding the engine bearers in the pic. The prop shaft is taken from an old Aires DB605 engine.

Administrators JeroenPeters Posted January 14, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted January 14, 2016 Not stalled, just slow going. I tore the Aires DB605 engine from an older Bf109 build and moved the turbocharger to the other side (as per Jumo211). Then I changed a few other bits and bobs to make it look more like a Jumo211. After all: in the end you will only see a glimpse of it. Added the wires as seen in the previous posted drawings. Halfway down the block I cut out a big trench in the resin to accommodate my home made engine bearers. The whole thing fits the jig like a glove. Primed the whole thing black. Ready to receive my first ever Mr. Paint

Administrators JeroenPeters Posted January 18, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted January 18, 2016 First paint on the jigs. First base with Matt black. Then Freshly cut wood by AK. This will be further built up with several wood colors from the AK range.
