Administrators JeroenPeters Posted February 16, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted February 16, 2016 This is gonna take a while. I'm spraying the whole fuselage black and start sanding. This shows up any scratches and irregularities. I also wasn't too happy with the too pronounced rivets. Two birds with one stone. Another thing is the orange peel skin the Revell kits often have. This allows me to polish the whole thing.
Wingco57
Yep, sanding that fallus like fuselage. Would look interesting seen from behind. Cees
ophthoidoug
Watching closely, with the Aims mistel conversion lurking in my stash. Wasn't sure about the panel-joints in the top of the fuselage when I looked at the sprues but yours looks superb. What did you fill them with? Did you have to re-scrib any of it? Rivet-work adds to how good yours is looking. Any advice about the fuselage for someone who hasn't tackled it yet? Thanks & thanks for sharing

Rivet-work adds to how good yours is looking. Any advice about the fuselage for someone who hasn't tackled it yet? Thanks & thanks for sharing The joints are fine. Didn't need to fill them. My fuse lost some shape integrity due to cutting out the wing roots and not using the wing spars. Took me some elbow grease to close the nose but in the past I built a ju088 with wings, so i know the fuse fits great if you don't take a say to it! Almost finished sanding and polishing the surface AND just ordered a custom Maketar Kabuki paint mask for the insignia and codes.

Administrators JeroenPeters Posted February 28, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted February 28, 2016 Scored a base for the setting. I will paint it and cover the top with drawings from the instruction manual. Not sure hw I'll go about, but I'll figure something out. Additional to the fuselage and engine the base will receive a piece f metal. Enter stage: Jim! Ordered masks from Maketar, but they come by snail mail.

Administrators JeroenPeters Posted February 28, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted February 28, 2016 And here's the piece of window frame from the cockpit that Jim is donating to my build. Yes. This piece of metal is of the actual 4D+FH that crashed in Norway and is now on display at the museum in Gardermoen. I will find a way to display it on the base. Cheers Jim. Really grateful..

Administrators JeroenPeters Posted March 1, 2016 Author Administrators Share Posted March 1, 2016 About time you get some paint on! Noice! Cheers! Still spotting for irregularities. Looks ok. Almost ready for camo. Attached the attachment points for the wings. The slot perfectly onto the base. Doesn't need glue. Also: Maketar custom paint masks arrived!
