Ok, at Peters suggestion, I kept doing what was doing!  After dealing with cold meds hangover all day I came down and scuffed out the dust bunnies and decanted more TS-15 blue.  Why the hell Tamiya doesn’t sell bottles that match the spray is one of those mysterious things we will never know.
But I laid down 2-3 more coats and then shot the whole thing with leveling thinner mixed with a touch of paint.
This is right after spraying.

Can’t wait to see how it dries out.

Love the gloss finish.

Tamiya make a couple different blues in their lacquer line now. I wonder if of them might be a match?

I have the X Plus T-Rex and it's a very nice kit. The Spinosaurus should be just as good.

Pegasus also makes a Spinosaurus model. I have the leg and base at my bench but I have to find the rest of it. The boys took it so it's hopefully in one of their rooms.

WOW - Gorgeous gloss finish.🏆

Completely agree about Tamiya calling out for far too many colors that are only available in their AS spray cans line and has always been a great mystery to me as well. I could see in the days they didn't offer a lacquer paint in jars but now they do: LP paints.

Looking mighty good - what mix did you use for the colors - they look so good.  With the Big Fella standing next to a bottle of Tamiya paint, we get some idea of his size. How really big is he or her?

Thanks Peter. The belly is XF-78 Deck Tan but I'm going to darken it a bit later.

Topside, the base is XF-5 Green and the tiger stripes are XF-27 Black Green. All are straight from the bottle.

As for size, she's approximately 20" from tip to tail.

Thanks for the info .. I never would have guessed the body colors were not hand mixed and shaded - they look so good. Holy cow, over a foot and half tall ... she sure is big and forbidding.

Yup, the eyes are big and going to use all your creative juices.

Open up and say "Ahhh"

Painting the mouth. The tongue first.

With it out of the way, the mouth was a bit easier.

Nice thing is my airbrush was fine enough I didn't mask around the mouth.

The teeth were done in off white.

You're are going to love your new air brush. I have two H&S Infinity CR Plus airbrushes, one with a .2 tip (used for a good 80% of my work) and the other with a .4 tip. They will last a lifetime - just keep them clean and you will never have any issues. I have changed the seals and spring in the .2 tip AB just once in all the years I've had it and it's as good as the day I bought it.

So the point I'm dreading, painting the eyes.

Anyone know what colours these are?

PXL_20231230_174125567.thumb.jpg.8983e55dec4c10a4b0a095114b232c72.jpg

I have black and ivory but what about the first three? I know they're artist oil paint names but I have no idea beyond that what color they are. Just looking for approximate equivalents in acrylic.

Thanks.
