I'll be honest here. I'm trying to figure out how to so some weathering and wear to a solid OD green vehicle so I can break up the monoptony.

This is literally my first ground vehicle since I built a Tinkertoy tank as a three year old.

I was a little surprised at the name of the truck on the box. It sounds a bit ominous - "666 truck"? I thought they were 6x6 trucks!

Sorry to bombard with unsolicited photos Ern...   But this seems like a good answer for your question.  This guy uses oils to give very subtle but lively definition to armor.  On this one he used blues and browns to add visual interest. He's also inspired me to be bolder with colors and oils.

Modulation is a good idea and simple to do. Just imagine an imaginary light source at a fixed position and work from there with a base Colour and then one or two shades in both directions, light and dark.
A brown wash on OD, possibly combined with a brownish filter will enhance detail and Colour richness.
