Wingco57 Posted November 14, 2019 Author Posted November 14, 2019 Go on then, you know you want to. 2
Wingco57 Posted November 16, 2019 Author Posted November 16, 2019 Working on frame 7, the pilot’s bulkhead. Cees 5
Sir Desmond Glazebrook Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 This is very inspiring. I will join the others watching. I finished a book last night, Heroes of the skies by Michael Veitch. Aircrew on the Halifax seemed very happy with it. Total produced 7176 + 2 protypes. Avro Lancaster total produced 7377. It seems that both bombers are treated by the public with a BoB parallel, the Halifax is the Hurricane, the Lancaster the Spitfire. I would love a well produced 1/48 Halifax, even a 1/72. Good luck with the build. 1
Wingco57 Posted November 17, 2019 Author Posted November 17, 2019 actually 6176 + prototypes were produced. After the bugs were ironed out it was a very good bomber. Cees 2
Wingco57 Posted November 17, 2019 Author Posted November 17, 2019 Some more work on frame 7 and the early stage of the engine control box. Cees 3
Wingco57 Posted November 18, 2019 Author Posted November 18, 2019 Total off-day this evening, where nothing seemed to work. I ripped off frame 7 as it was too shallow. But making another one didn’t work with knives cutting to far etc. Did manage to make a floor though. Oh well, next time better I hope. Cees 2
Wingco57 Posted November 19, 2019 Author Posted November 19, 2019 Today went much better, apart from cutting and fitting various interior bits I made a start at correcting the area in front of the windscreen by glueing a thick piece of plasticard . This will later be sanded down to shape. 4
Wingco57 Posted November 20, 2019 Author Posted November 20, 2019 Nope, the Mk 1 eyeball. Works every time I hope. 3
Wingco57 Posted November 20, 2019 Author Posted November 20, 2019 I think the operation is succesful and the patient is in hood health. It even looks like a panelline. Cees 5
GusMac Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 Looks excellent Cees. This is going to be stunning with all the work your putting in. 3
woody37 Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 I'll be a copying you young sir on that improvement 3
Wingco57 Posted November 24, 2019 Author Posted November 24, 2019 Teeny tiny update. As the fuselage halves are so flimsy I wanted to make sure the wingroots gave suffient strength so I glued shaped pieces of plasticard into the root recesses. These effectively serve as a filler between the root and the floor. 6
Wingco57 Posted November 26, 2019 Author Posted November 26, 2019 Didn’t have much time today but managed to make a start with adding the interior details with the frames first. Cees 4
Wingco57 Posted December 5, 2019 Author Posted December 5, 2019 After doing some Christmas shopping in London back to work. I built the steps leading forward into the nose compartment. Cees 3
Bomber_County Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 Inspired build Cees, great to see another masterclass in progress... 2
Wingco57 Posted December 6, 2019 Author Posted December 6, 2019 Not masterclass just sticking strips..... 4
Wingco57 Posted December 8, 2019 Author Posted December 8, 2019 Starboardside done. I also made a ledge at the top to provide some glueing surface for attaching the cockpit transparencies. At least that’s the plan. Cees 2
Wingco57 Posted December 10, 2019 Author Posted December 10, 2019 I have made a start on the portside too. Cees 4
Old Dog Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 That's some crazy detail (and excellent work as well) If I ever get around to building mine it will no doubt be a gutless husk. 2
