So I made 2 toolboxes since I was having difficulty with scale. I used the helicopter tire for reference but there is some gap between the helo and the box and that threw me off for size. Still need to add wheels to the box.

heres how it  looks so far, feedback welcome on which box looks better.

If I've ever been in this position, my instinct is to look for the online catalogues of real world equipment suppliers, who (helpfully) tend to dimension their products. However, in this case (pun unavoidable) it was less useful: Beta Tools' cabinets seem to mostly be around 800mm x 400mm footprint, which seem a fair bit smaller than yours. For what it's worth, by my eye I think the larger one looks more to scale - even before you've added the 4" vice. That said, I think it's clear that you and Peter have better eyes and fingers than the rest of us mortals. 😉

Different view from Kirk’s… I’d say that the one on the left looks more proportionate to me. At least, it looks more like mine, which I am seeing a lot of lately :)

I went with the bigger box. Next is the cradle for the engine. Figures are still being designed. Heres the guy outside by crane controls.

i have ordered tools from Bregun Models .

Great work, Oliver.  You never cease to amaze me with your applied research.  I would hate to be the guy dragging the tool chest over that uneven ground.  I know you said your figure is designed, I'm curious as to if he's scanned.

Thank you.  Sincerely, Mark

All dio pieces are done. Now it's time to clear the bench and start painting them. I have no idea  where they will be placed in the dio just yet. Added an engine craddle.

Wot, no vice? :D

Funny you mention it. It was going to add a small folding table on the side of the toolbox and put the vice on it but it looked odd.

It looks splendid without. I only mentioned it because there looked to be one on your reference photo and it was the expected working height of that one that made me think your larger tool chest was more to scale.

It's all coming together now. I can't wait to see all these accessories in paint. Don't rush though! 😊

Started painting in the dio pieces.

i was looking for the right Olive drab color to offset the truck color. I had heard about Mission Models Paint but never used them before, they have a great selection of colors and they were on sale at the hobby shop on top of it.

it has to be the worst paint ever produced, coverage is awful and several steps need to be done, mixing it with two different products hoping to get the right ratio and  finding the right pressure so it lays down flat is a  guessing game as well.

What you call "Dio pieces" I'd be happy to have produced as the main event. Your distinctive airbrush work really is fab. You must get through a lake of solvent cleaning at every colour change.

Nice to see the 'Dio Pieces' have reached the painting stages and are looking so good.

Very much appreciate your honest opinion on Mission Paints, as I have read a lot about them and never understood the value for creating a paint system with so much prep work required. For me, one of main the reasons I prefer MRP paint over Mr. Color and Tamiya Lacquers: simplicity - shoot it straight from the bottle, no thinning or mixing - couldn't be any simpler. After your experience with Mission Model Paints, I'll be passing on them. :construction:

Mission paint bad. Should have stayed with Vallejo or Tamiya but I wanted to try something new since they had amazing selection on colors...

I do like MRP paint, I will them to paint the helicopter International Orange.
