  1. Thanks! bookmarked ...for something simple only though
  2. Last two photos before it's ready. Only the weatering to do now. Will take 2 weeks or so, because I go on vacation tomorrow. Note the brighter (but still low contrast) RLM 82 on the elevators. It was another fun build with very few demons to slay. Next will be the 1940 GB Eduard E-3, but I'm already looking forward to the Wfr.Gr.21 equiped G-6. I'll probably get myself a Brassin pit for that one...will speed up the build for sure. The pit for this one cost me 2 weeks Thanks for watching and thanks for the tips and comments. Rob
  3. I tried this method once, with a Monogram 1/48 B-17, but that was a disaster. Highly visible glue stains, wrinkles and what more. How do you do it? what type of glue do you use? Maybe I'll give it another try with something simple like a bare metal 109 wing underside. Rob
  4. Good to know this, thanks! Rob
  5. I forsee a growing stash in the near future
  6. How a book (with scale drawings)pays off instantly.. And a nice prop...with a handy jig... Rob
  7. lovley little muddy tank Rob
  8. When you think the interior is too yellow, perhaps give it a dark wash with some green paint or ink mixed in? Try on some scrap first (so it isn't my fault when it doesn't work out well )
  9. Ah well...another update Stuff happened...you might noticed the "black 22" all the sudden became a "blue 22". Not because I changed my mind, but because I placed the 22 decals too high on one side. When I noticed it...it was too late. I tried to get them on the move again with water, set and sol, but they refused to move. For a day or two I thought..."pff...nobody will notice it and nobody cares", but for my own peace of mind...I ripped them off with tape (thank goodness...no paint damage). My escape was the second option Barracuda gave me...the blue version of the same. So now Anders is right...they're blue now. Must be some kind of witchcraft, after all...he seen them blue before they were blue Where I am now? Final touches stage. Done all the decals...just like what I did with the G-14, I airbrushed the inside of the top wing crosses to get rid of the silvering. Varnished the kit with a mix of matt and semi gloss. Done the varnished natural wooden underwing Morane antenna with an Uschi woodgrain decal and added most missing bits and bobs. Received the prop jig and the prop and spinner are now RLM 70...can finish that tomorrow...1/3 white with a soft edge to do. Canopy frames done...need to scratch the handle bars and the Galland armour braces. Oh...and the pitot tube from Albion tube and wire. Must also scratch the Revi 16B, because of the minor Northstar misfortune. Last but not least...some very minor chipping and weathering. I'll go on vacation on thursday...must be ready before I leave! Rob
  10. "clap clap clap" I've seen someone build the engine for a Siemens-Schuckert D.III this way....was some years ago. You're that guy? Asolutely stunning
  11. Good show!
  12. Fantastic! One very little thing....the coffee/tea mug. It looks a bit out of place. Isn't it too modern? Like sixtees or seventees? I'm not a mug historian, so I might be wrong
  13. 109 small bulges wing roots, 262 wheels, prop jig for 109 props and the 109 "how to build..." book. Maybe the book is a bit late after already building a G-10 and a G-14 (from a G-6 early/late kit) and many new aftermarket things came after the book, but still...I have more to build and it's a great book. I'm sure there's still a lot I have to learn about this kit. Rob
  14. Thanks a lot Doug
  15. Welcome aboard, some beautiful builds there. Rob
  16. looking forward to see the WIP
  17. I give myself a two weeks cool down period, so whatever I do, it won't be a "must burn money now!" thing. Might still buy the bloody thing after Easter, but to stop the craving...the 1/18 G-6 engine. Nobody will object to that I presume. Thanks for the input guys. Rob
  18. Cleaning the parts alone will probably take me a year...I won't rush it and I promise not to glue anything together before I know what I'm doing. I'll do it on the side next to more down to earth builds. When I need more skills to tackle something...I'll learn the skill before I need it. Will try my utmost best to avoid blunders. Not sure this kit will be around forever and I'll regret it when I miss the boat. Expect silly questions though
  19. I just put my fingers in my ears and make a lot of random noise....so I can't hear the Sirens sing. "lalalalalalalalala" That will do... for now
  20. btw...it's not like I don't have anything big in the stash...more like I want to treat myself with something out of the ordinary. Pretty big stuff I have: a Dragon 110D-3, Revell 111H-6 and an Uhu. That HpH 1/18 G-6 engine looks like a must have also
  21. Some brillant ideas here. Looks like you guys don't want me to try the 410 The 335 sounds like a plan...the Horten is an intriguing plane for sure, but most of what you do will be gone forever when you close it up...that's not my thing. A Gotha and AEG...both planes I love and I will get one or both for sure....for Christmas or so. I'll run the gauntlet and get myself a 410...and a good resin saw. Peer pressure is on Rob
  22. Today was Barracuda day. Worked on the Barracuda G10 prop... Together with the HGW seatbelts and the Barracuda decals the only aftermarket item I'll use. The prop looks really nice....very thin. Only needed some very minor sanding near the base. The spinner....can't get better than this and goodbye to the dreadful construction of the Revell version of it. I expect the "alignment jig" this week...will finish it when I get it. And a start with the decals... From the part 1 G10 set. Beautiful decals made by Cartograph. Even the smallest stencil is readable...under a magnifying lamp. Very...very nice. Found one error on the sheet though...the "yellow 6" (planned to be my next G10) is out of register. The black border of it doesn't cover all the yellow...so there is yellow outside the black border. This will show...specially since the 6 is painted on a dark green background (to cover a previous number). Well...this was my last update before I can show the finished model. Still a lot to do, but absolutely nothing worth bothering you guys with. Expect to finish it next week....fingers crossed. Rob
