  1. On the bench: Revell Bf109 G-10

  2. Thanks a lot Mike! The white 17 is also in the Viermot Aces book...ordered the decals...thanks again
  3. Skills I can only dream of...and not even that. Stunning!
  4. A whole lot of Spitfire and 109 goodies from Barracuda. And from Eduard a pit upgrade for the Dragon 110D-3
  5. It's a light soft white foam in between two thick layers of paper. I use it for some years now and it doesn't make blades blunt...not that I noticed anyway. The thick paper keeps the knives from topling over....the foam alone won't be enough. These boards are often used in offices...my wife is my supplier. She uses them for presentations/meetings with construction drawnings stuck to them.
  6. And forgot to show this... Opened the exhausts and made the welding seams from stretched sprue. Thought about making the bolts next to the exhaust (like on the Brassin) with my hex punch and die thing, but they won't be visible in any way or form. So decided not to...call me a barbarian.
  7. Finished the plumbing on one side panel... Removed most of the original plumbing and replaced it with stretched sprue, evergreen, brass wire, aluminium tube and scrap PE. Made it all somewhat more 3 dimensional. On to the other side now...that's the easier side, so I hope to speed up a bit
  8. For you.... I'm sure we all wear our Xacto scars with some pride, but avoid receiving the Darwin Award
  9. Oh, that's a pitty, but perhaps you can use brass wire and make 2 loops? Advantage over PE...it isn't flat
  10. no need to worry about the blades, even the heavier X-acto for wider blades stays in. There's no danger it will tople over. Not even with a rounded tip blade. In fact, the main reason I mounted the foamboard in a photo frame, is because without the extra weight you easily lift the tray up when you pull out a blade. Even with all the other stuff on it. What I won't dart in, is my pin vice, the weight will likely cause a fine drill bit to break. Can also just tape a piece of foamboard to a desk, but can't move that of course.
  11. you sure it's not 1/24 scale? That paintwork!
  12. I googled a bit...all photos I seen...when on the ground you see the circle from the side. Seen a photo when in flight with the circle turned...so you see it from the front. So perhaps "circle visible from the side" is the zero/default or take off and landing position. Still no idea it could be turned, might as well be some had it attached differently. Btw...not seen any on Lichtenstein equiped 110s, but most photos are not clear or taken from the front, so not 100% certain about this either. See circle from the side is the safe way to go I guess. Perhaps the nicest position also, since it will be most visible that way...and it's a nice eye catcher. Dragon provides 2 PE loops with small notches on them, that's neat because there is a space between the two loops nice touch Dragon! Good luck, hopefully others can help more
  13. Nice one! Perhaps scratch build the missing roof rails for the unditching beam or crib? The brackets are already there, but Emhar forgot to add the rail. A few strips of evergreen L profile is all it takes. When you like I can send you a a crib (from Model Cellar Productions) ...I have a spare. You can have it, just let me know. Edit: The rails were often removed when damaged, so it's not a must to add them. the model looks great as it is. For those wondering what on earth a crib is. It's a late war fascine, made of beams.
  14. I love to use foamboard....my whole workspace is covered with it. Started to use it to protect the dining table* from damage, but I started to stick in all kinds of sharp objects from day one. And one step further... .....the moveable sharp stuff tray was born. A photo frame...removed the glass and back panel...cut a piece of foamboard to the right size and secured it with the frame clamps. When I need more space...I don't have to pull out all the tools stuck all over the place...I just move the tray a bit. Now I think of it....I can also drill some holes in the wooden frame for more drill bits and pin vice. Will make the piece of foamboard last longer. Cheers, Rob *moved from my own hobby room to the dining table for social reasons. Table for eight and just the two of us, so only need to clear it when we get dinner guests.
  15. I love these big projects...to watch them Looks great so far, looking forward to see more!
  16. Mike verdict: "probably a Revell blooper". Since I have another G-10 on the shelf and since I run out of wooden foot boards this way, I'll make a copy of the one I still have. I'll make this G-10 with an open canopy, so the pit will get some extra love. More asap
  17. Glad you got a replacement part. Looking forward to see more of this
